    Fewer jobs. Less work.

Yes there are fewer jobs but there are still a lot of unemployed people. So why would the jobs on Reed only suddenly have hardly any applications?

What I meant was, there are not 'less jobs' there are 'fewer jobs'. Like there would not be 'fewer work' it would be 'less work'.

Your attempt at explaining confuses me. Less jobs and fewer jobs means the same; there are not as many jobs. Fewer jobs means less work for people.

Doesn't change anything. There are jobs listed, why are there suddenly no/only a few applications on this one site?

Seriously? You're linking me to a dictionary?

I wasn't confused about less and fewer. The amount of jobs/work however you want to word it (fewer/less) isn't the point.

There are jobs out there, there is work. It doesn't explain why one site is suddenly getting no applications for the jobs listed when other sites - even for the same jobs - are still getting loads of applications.

Even so they pretty much all were 50+ a month ago and I believe my area has a higher unemployment rate compared to a lot of other places.

So the chances of a job that would normally get 100+ applications to now be lucky to get 1 or 2 seems a bit stupid, especially when it's only the case on one site.

Was there some sort of meeting of employed people that on a set day they suddenly weren't going to apply for any jobs through Reed anymore for the run up to Christmas?
Even so what? I showed you a contract job with a few and 100+ on a full time perm job that been advertised for less time.

Like I have said also less people resign or look for a job up to Xmas as its not just unemployed applying.

Even though the type of job makes a difference normally (so a short term contract gets less than full time) I am talking about all types of jobs within a 20 mile radius of me.

Contract, full time, part time, temp, agencies, employers/direct, admin, retail, driving, engineer, chef and any other type of job you can think of.

All jobs within the last two weeks in a 20 mile radius of me are showing as very few applications. Most are less than 20, a lot are less than 5. Pages and pages of jobs with no one applying. Yet before almost all these jobs would have at least 50+ applications and some of these jobs are on other sites and they have people applying.

One day loads of people were applying, the next day they seemingly stopped.

Even if most employed people stopped applying (and weirdly all did so at the same time) it seems strange that a job that would get 100+ applications now has 1, especially in an area with a higher rate of unemployment and at a time when people want a job most so they can afford Christmas.

If the amount applying had halved even gone to say 25% of what it was a short while ago or over a few weeks it had gone down quite a bit it wouldn't seem so odd, but it's gone down to like 1% pretty much overnight.

No it means if a job would once get 100+ and no only has 1 its either everyone else has a job or the ones with jobs have stopped looking

Anyway this means all the better for you surely?

Up until now (so for months and months) the jobs have all had high numbers of applications. I doubt one day loads of people suddenly got jobs in every single area and just stopped applying. Judging by the other job sites there is still the same amount of people at this time applying for jobs.

It's better for me if there really is less competition, but I'm not convinced that's the case.
