most likely as it would be " the volunteer on their own picked up a phone book and called these numbers, we had no part in this", but these days charities have to keep a record of volunteers, so the charity would still get fines as they should make their fundraising teams aware of these don't call numbersadouglasmhor wrote: »Be a shame to get a hefty fine for being well meaning. Hmm, the ICO's ruling is so woolly as to effectively render charities exempt, IMO. You might interpret things as 'not cold calls' but I suspect a charity will interpret it differently. Simply that you've donated to a charity, any charity, in the past or gift-aided an entrance fee to a National Trust property or something equally unrelated will deem you 'unlikely to object to such calls' and ensure they feel free to call with impunity."Growth for growth's sake is the ideology of the cancer cell" - Edward Abbey.0 -

I have no idea how you came to that conclusion, it is reasonably clear. The truth may be out there, but the lies are inside your head. Terry Pratchett

Am I the only one who sees a certain irony in someone calling themselves SpammyTheSpammer being spammed

Cancer Research were phoning me every other day, but I am never home at that time to take the call.
I have donated to them hence the calls. However, I emailed them with my phone number and they removed me from their list and I haven't had a call since, the e-mail I used was supporter.services@cancer.org.uk .
Now I am getting the same from Care International as I loan money using Lend With Care.
This type of behaviour puts me off donating, because I know it won't stop with the one off donation, they'll hound me. I am also not sure why they phone my house number as I always give them my mobile!
Then every lunch time, except in the rain, they're out in the streets asking for your bank details too, all very pally with you, but stalking you.
I must say, I donated to Help for Heroes at the same time as Cancer Research UK and I have not had one bit of spam from them:T0
