This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” is fine.

Good morning everyone
Wild weather here last night and overnight and is bitterly cold again this morning.
Dashing because it's DH's payday so am paying bills and doing online banking but it's always lovely to see that decrease in debt each month. Just can't wait until it's all gone
Well wishes to all sick people and pets and hugs for anyone who needs or just wants them. Keep well, warm and safe and have a super dayLBM 10/1/12 ~ DFW Start 6/2/12: £82,344 ~ Now Zero:staradmin:starmod::staradmin Debt free 17th April 2015 :staradmin:starmod::staradmin

Good Morning everyone, chilly one again, after the school run this morning I am going to sort out what things I have in my Christmas box of collected bits and see what and who I still have to buy for.I usually buy a few bits and pieces over the year and put them away towards christmas and today I am going to make the effort and wrap and llist what I have.my DD gave me a 20% off voucher for M&S that can be used for almost anything for the next week so I may use it to get a few bits on Sunday.I really don't need to go to the shops before then for anything urgent so I do my best to stay away from them as much as possible at this time of the year.
Apart from doing that I don't think I have a great deal to do today so it will be a 'pottering day ':):)
If anyone lives in the Torquay area the touring company of the show I saw yesterday 'Blood Brothers' is playing there from the 25thNov -30th Nov at the Princess Theatre. If you can get a ticket I highly reccommend it Fantastic show and the cast are amazing One of the best shows I have seen for ages.:):):)
Right time to get a wriggle on and the kettle as well:)
Have a great day chums whatever you are doing and keep well wrapped up

Morning everyone
HH - Happy Birthday - hope you have a great day x
Hugs to all those that are feeling sad/poorly x
Light cloud, wet, and very windy - yesterday evening we had heavy rain and some thunder and lightning too.
DH up and gone to work.
Dinner last night was beef casserole, dumplings, mash and veg - it was delicious - clean plates all round. Tonight will be pork chops, mash, veg and gravy.
Have loads to do today - there's so much washing, drying and ironing to do, as well as the housework and several other jobs - will just do the best I can without letting it overwhelm me.
Keep safe and well x

Good morning,
An early open today, Frog was up at 5.30, I really haven't missed these early wake ups. She was up at least 6 times in the night coughing so I suspect she will be tired and grumpy by mid morning. Meh.
This morning we have an appointment to cut her hair at 9.45, honestly it grows so quickly and I certainly don't know how to cut it and make it look presentable so £5 is well spent in my opinion. Also after a disastrous decision by DH to take her to the barbers last christmas as he couldn't get her into the hairdressers it means she will look like a girl - always a plus
Nursery this afternoon and I intend get the 2nd Christmas cake in the oven and to turf out get under stairs cupboard and sort it and tidy it. There are a gazillion pairs of DH's shoes in there that haven't been worn it gawd knows how long.
Dinner tonight will be a jacket potato for DH, bit of an experiment to bake it and then reheat it in the microwave later. Not sure what I will have yet, I might see if there is any YS stuff in the supermarket to tempt me
I also need to sit down this evening and start working on MIL, FIL, DH and my own tax returns, this is the first year I am doing theirs so need to get my backside on a chair and get to it. I like to have mine in before Christmas, not that I'll get a rebate this year sadly now that I'm a SAHM and have no employment income
I seem to have a growing list of things that I need to do but with only 2 afternoons a week to myself items are added to it quicker than I can cross them off. I've also got the in-laws coming to stay next week for 3 days so need to start prepping for that too.
Anyway, got to get a wriggle on and get into the shower shortly. Hope you all have a good day, wrap up warm xxWhether you think you can or you can’t, you’re probably right ~ Henry Ford0 -
Morning all,
Hester - Happy Birthday!
Wet and chilly again today. That huge (but shortlived) hail storm yesterday was a bit fierce wasn't it. Thankfully I wasn't outside in it, hope none of you were either, it looked evil!
DH gone silly o clock to source an obselete plumbing bit. Washing in the machine but I'm waiting for DS2's dressing gown to put in their too.
Made another sock monkey yesterday, it was out of a pair of small persons socks, so it didn't take long.
Not sure what I'm going to do today, I have things that need doing but I'll see if I get round to them.
Dinner will be the chicken I'm going to bung in the slow cooker, probably with roast spuds and veg.
Have a good day all.0 -
Morning All
:bdaycake: HH hope you have a lovely birthday.
Started knitting a baby cardigan for DS's Fianc!'s sister, not sure of sex yet, so at least with this pattern it is the same apart from the top of the fronts, so may leave it as that point for now (due April) or don t they bother about round necks for girls and v necks for. OH's any more?
Need to get my bum in gear if we are to be ready with the caravan for midday, so better get off here and get on.
Take care everyone. ((hugs)), spoons, and positive vibes all round - with. Special :grouphug: for HS.DGMember #8 of the SKI-ers Club
Why is it I have less time now I am retired then when I worked?0 -
Hi everyone.
Happy birthday Hester.
Early post for me, I've got to get going, I want to make 2 loaves of bread, a victoria sandwich, some coffee and walnut traybake and at least 4 pork and broccoli lasagnes.
Then I need to pack the car for the weekend in Yorkshire - we'll leave when DH gets home from work. Hopefully we will have internet access this weekend but I'm not holding my breath as it's BT.0 -
Morning all,
Feeling a bit sick today/ May be the flu jab I had yesterday.:o
:bdaycake: Happy Birthday Hester!
DD and DIL are still in bed. Can't believe how much they eat and drink:eek:
They don't get up till 10 or later so I'm having to wait for my breakfast till then.:o
Have a good day/I Believe in saving money!!!:T

Morning all,
Hester - twins and a birthday, enjoy!
Cold and clear here so I've looked out a warm coat as I must go out today. I haven't been out of the house for 4 days now with the marking and the swollen knee, so time to time to find out if the rest of the world is still there.
DH finally sent the car to be MOT'd. It will be £800+ and they kept it overnight. This morning he was going to catch the bus... shame he can't walk the distances needed to do that. He went to work in a cab trying to look fed up
WM is on, dinner is in the freezer and the marking beckons... enjoy the day xI can cook and sew, make flowers grow.0
