orange extras
I have a payg phone/sim and an looking at the extras to save a few pounds. I only use it for text and odd call so looking at the text pack. When I sign into the website it shows I can get a 150 text for a week for £3 and 500 for a month for £5. When I have tried to buy the month ones it tells me it can't and I need to do it via 450. When I try that way says the week text is £5 and doesn't offer the month at all. Any ideas?

I'm on Orange racoon and I've had problems with the extras. I don't think you can buy the month extra on that tariff.
I bought the £3 150 texts for a week extra online which said I would be billed £3 but when the charge went through they had charged me £5. I phoned to complain and they said they would credit me with the £2 as a gesture of goodwill because I was a good customer. I told them I wasn't asking for a favour, I was asking them to charge me correctly, and that they needed to update their website - they said yes, of course they would correct the website. Next time I went to buy the same bundle, and exactly the same thing happened.
So the answer is yes, orange are overcharging and have been doing this for a while. I did think about reporting them to Trading Standards - I don't think talking to their customer services in India is going to get it fixed anytime soon.0 -
Thanks, glad it's not just me, but shame it has happened to you. Think it maybe look at other options.
I'm thinking of looking at tesco contract for £7.50 as daughter wants a phone as well, I have a spare tesco one she uses on the days she needs it (once a week to phone to say she's outside, doesn't get answered). It would give me a better deal than orange.0 -
The Tesco £7.50 a month sim only deal is a good one and you can cap it to save any unpleasant surprises.
If you prefer pay as you go they have a bundle of 5000 texts for £5 a month on their triple credit tariff and if you don't need that many texts then you can just use the basic plan.
Tesco use the O2 network.0
