I've just switched banked via 7 day switching service from Natwest to Nationwide.

I've received letters regarding my Direct Debits and it has my sort-code as 07-01-16 instead of my sort-code, I was told by one company who asked for my actual sort-code that this may be their central sort-code.

Anyone had this before?? :mad::(

  • That's the sort code on both of my NW Flex accounts. One was opened in a branch and the other online as far as I can remember.

    Although this isn't a complete list, it seems they have at least 3 sortcodes for Flexaccounts...

    When you say "instead of my sort-code" - what is it? They aren't secret.

    This will be your 'actual' sort code. Nationwide only use a few and don't have a separate one for each branch, as proper banks do.

    You don't keep your sort code when you switch bank accounts - Nationwide will give you a new code and a new account number.

    I don't understand the question. What sort code are they using, which one should they be using, why is the one they are using wrong, what is "my" sort code?

    I think that the OP may have confused 7-day switching which has been implemented and account portability which was a proposal but which there are no plans to implement.

    If I am correct then the OP not noticed that both the sort code AND account number have changed.

    There are transitional arrangements where any credits and debits to the old sort code / account number combination will be forwarded to the new account for 13 months.

    I have just noticed that the OP has updated their signature to include "If you ask stupid question, you'll receive a stupid answer". :)

    Hmm, thanks for that, I have signatures switched off.

    Nothing like an appreciative poster.
