Sky transponder (txponder)

Still having trouble with my sky hd box, so I went wandering throughout the Internet looking for solutions. When I went to the secret menu 001 select, and look at the transponder settings, my frequency is 11.778 whereas on a website it suggests it should be 12.207. http://www.skyhdsolutions.com/no-satellite-signal-being-received/
I am in Northern Ireland and wonder would that make a difference.
Any ideas?
Thanks

The default transponder for the UK and the only one to provide a 7 day EPG is 11778 and the alternative transponders are only useful for viewers outside the UK footprint in fringe reception areas which you are definitely NOT and only provide a maximum 24 hours EPG information and also will only stay set on your box it until receives a signal from 11778 however short.
If you are not receiving full (or any) EPG listings then it is down to one of four things
1 Badly aligned dish (most likely)
2 Faulty digibox - you do not state a make or model (printed on back panel - Pace, Samsung, Thomson, Amstrad or Sky) which is essential info with this sort of query
3 Faulty lnb (bit in front of dish) or cabling
4 Interference either RF into cabling/box or microwave.
You could try changing the transponder but it is highly unlikely to give a permanent solution. You need diagnosis of your problem - trying another known working box on your system and your box on a known working dish connection.0 -
The problem I was having is on another thread, UTV is receiving the no signal message, but the itv on channel 973 is good, then I have some channels eg history and history plus 1 and a few others up that way with the same message. At the moment the history channel is working, I also have problems with some movie channels ie true Christmas, Sony movies, so I am thinking it is all related. I have rebooted and removed all leads, rewired, and dusted behind the TV lol. All a mystery.. Can't understand if it is the dish why do all the other channels work...
Thanks...0 -
How old is your Sky box ?, I recently had to change my Thompson HD box, it was a first generation HD box about 7 years old, I was unable to get all channels, many said no satellite signal being received , others worked fine..a search online said the power supply unit on the way out gives these symptoms , mine got progressively worse, to the point were it was next to useless, Sky replaced the box for free after I said I would cancel my subscription if they didn't give me a new free box,I paid for the Thompson box myself and had never had a 'free' box from them, but I did have to agree to a minimum 12 month contract in return for the new box0

I've had this until they changed the cabling from the LNB on the dish
can also be a LNB problem
possibly the dish has moved slightly in the high winds the ohter week ??Ex forum ambassador
