Unfair Negative feedback - honestly makes me want to cry

I've had a couple of calls from ebay sellers over the years and found it surprising, intrusive and disturbing. Especially as one seller was verbally aggressive and patronising. There's no need. I sell occasionally, privately, too and the one ridiculous negative I ever got, I sorted it online and got it removed. Would never dream of phoning a buyer over feedback. I'm hoping to become a business seller in the near future and do understand how important feedback is.

Thank you, I found the idea of telephoning an Ebay customer really uncomfortable. I wouldn't like it myself. Ebay made me feel like my customer service was lacking for not telephoning the customers.

Thank you for your response. Yes they are fine, two 5.0's and two 4.9s.

The headline stars are unimportant really, what matters is the expanded dashboard- so check that in a few days.

I'm quite annoyed with Ebay for making buyers' telephone numbers visible (I think this is a recent change although I may be mistaken) - you used to have to request them I think. I emailed them about it after the aggressive call I got and just got a gobbledegook 1/2 standard reply - they usual effortless rubbish.

They only show them for businesses and that is a legal requirement.

    Ok, that's good to know.
Ebay never told me that, shows how useless they often are.

.. Although, with the last thing I sold, the buyer's number shows on the order details - and I'm not a business seller..

But the businesses are the sellers and their contact details are shown on the listings. However, I think we are talking about buyers and if I look at my sales records (I am a business) I see all my buyer's telephone numbers without requesting them. Unless likelyfran meant visible to everyone which of course isn't the case.

A buyers phone number does now show on the Order details page. I'm not sure how long that's been there but I noticed a while ago, think I noticed on an order details page a seller had printed off and put in with an item I had bought that it showed on it.
  • Buyers' phone numbers have always been there. If you don't want to be called, enter a fake number, easy.
Ebay fees have reached a ceiling now. Any higher and they'll lose custom because sellers' websites will be cheaper (most are - always check if a seller has a site before buying). So the next way for ebay to make more money is to make sure sellers get and keep negative feedback. Sellers who do not have 100% positive are worth more to ebay because they don't have to give a monthly discount on fees.
When I looked at other sellers' feedback, if I saw neg or neutral left by some idiot, like people who neg a seller who sold them a DVD and they didn't like the film (true), I would add that seller's ID to my block list.
This weekend ebay made it so that you can't see the id of who left feedback and you can't click on their feedback score to see if they're a serial negger and block them. No, ebay want you to get negged because it's good business for them. This is also why there are more hoops for sellers to jump through.

Don't tell people to enter fake telephone numbers.

eBay fees are eBay fees, there is no ceiling. They are what they are.

Discounts are not based on feedback. PRS is based in returns, fast postage, dispatch time and DSR amongst other things.

The removal of user IDs on feedback viewable by others was not made this weekend.

It lays to keep uptodate, especially when you want to give any advice.
