    OK mate, no problem.

(we are only talking about £900 -at the time- of gold mind)

So 50% up and you 'sort of' forgot to mention it? OK mate, no problem.

Not sure where this thread ended up by the way. I hope we're encouraging new blood to come and join us on the 'debate house prices and the economy' board.

Yeah, and then be accused of "ramping".

As I said, I paid about £900 chucked them in a little bag and put them in the airing cupboard. It's hardly fort knox and, since I'm not obsessive about them, easily forgetabble.

(or at least forget to consider that I could trade them in and buy bitcoins - which, when you mentioned it triggered the thought in my mind)

    Make your mind up.

At the top of this page, you asked for a poster's opinion on Bitcoin.

If you don't want to talk about this popular topic, go find another thread to disrupt with your faux understanding of a major new technology.

    OK mate, no problem.
Don't blame me, I voted Remain.

To be fair, this thread is about any bandwagon, whether it be precious metals, gold, tulips or even houses. I was surprised that Devon didn't pick up on that and discuss housing booms, but he instead just came on to have a dig at me. Interesting how one of his 'gang' ignores this, ignores other people having a go at Devon and just focusses on me when I respond (I'm taking about a$$lick_trev).

I am now the proud owner of 4.9895 litecoins.

    (the next bandwagon)

    Jeez........

I've just finished a major project daisy-chaining 10 toasters and 15 video cards to mine bitcoins. And now you're selling us 'litecoin'.

So how do I mine those?

I've got so many TV/DVD remote controls knocking about the place - often doing nothing day after day - so it would be refreshing to hear that I could use these to make me rich in my (their?) spare time.

My next project is to invent and launch '$hitecoin'. What with Mrs LM going to the stables three times a week, she brings home lots of horsy-doo for the garden. Whilst there's a lot of it about, the shovelling and distribution of it is what involves the hard work. Hence my new derivative which is bound to succeed given the propensity of people to know the price of everything, but the value of nothing. A virtual horse doo-doo without the smell and damage to the environment surely hits the spot these days? If it goes well, 'cowpatcoin' will not be far behind!

I'm not selling you anything mate. And you are free to invent any coin you want.

But as you mention mining, you'll be pleased to know that litecoin mining is a lot easier and cheaper than bitcoin mining.

And remember, on the blockchain, no-one knows you're a fridge.

I shall take that, dear sir, as an insult.

I'll have you know I am a high definition television and have been since 2010. OK, that's after the operation but before that I was an iPod. A good one at that.

The "fridge" quote comes from an IBM executive in this interesting video I posted before. In it he hints at some of the uses of the core technology of Bitcoin (which remember is a unique and revolutionary technology which has only recently been invented)

    Ah yes.....

    IBM.

I wonder what happened to them? PC's were sold off to Lenovo I'm sure. Are they making fridges now?

[Sorry, can't be bothered to watch the bitcoin youtube plug. Sun having just gone well and truly over the yardarm, I simply must go downstairs and enjoy a very large gin & tonic....:)]
