When you say you can't walk in heels, do you mean that you cannot do 'height' at all or that you can't walk in spindle heels?
I wear shoes like these under trousers for work. Sensible heel with a bit of height so that the trousers hang well. And you can wear whatever socks you want!:heartpuls Mrs Marleyboy :heartpuls

I find heels really uncomfortable, but then ive only ever tried to wear the 3" thin ones.
I like them shoes you wear, my trousers are slim fit, would that make any difference to the type of shoe to get?0 -
OP try a heel like this

I got a lot of my shoes from Jones or Clarks like this one

I'm on my third pair of such heeled lace-up shoes (the ones I'm wearing now came from Lilly & Skinner at Shoezone and are black brogue-style). They've very comfortable.:heartpuls Mrs Marleyboy :heartpuls

I never wear heels or skirts for that matter
For work I wear Footglove loafers or flat heeled ankle boots, with black trousersEarly retired - 18th December 2014
If your dreams don't scare you, they're not big enough0 -
I wear these with black trousers for work. They have a small heel and for me, more importantly are leather so clean up well and last for ages. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/370920434956?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1439.l2649
Otherwise, this time of year knee length black or navy skirt, opaque tights and small heeled shoes will be absolutely fine. You can usually leave suited and booted to city types these days.0 -
I tend to get shoes in this shape for work, they go well with trousers without being frumpy, really comfy, smart for work, are pretty much flat, and also work well with my jeans at weekends.
Saying that - NOT this exact pair, it is just the first photo I found of the shape. Slightly more 'booty' than a plain brogue shape. I get plain black leather ones. Ones I'm currently wearing have a buckle closure not slip on so smarter than the pic, but you get the idea.
