Ikea wardrobe problem

Purchased Elga Fenstad wardrobe with mirror sliding doors last year and now both doors are warped, with the rear door very difficult to slide, as it it rubs against the frame. I'm worried that the mirrored glass is being stressed and will shatter.

I've tried contacting them on phone but dont have the time to wait on hold for up to 1 hour or more.

Does anyone know a more direct route to customer services? I've tried numbers on saynot870 but they were no better.

Is there a better time to ring?

Would going into the store be better, its not nearby though.

I see that they no longer sell this wardrobe so cant check what guarantee there was.

You have to do as every one else does, ring and wait.

You bought cheap goods, (we all do), the price is not the best customer service.

    The good side;

I hate ikea, that is an aside.

The real good side is that they do offer good customer service, once you can get through to them.

Hang on and wait, they will sort it, even if "eventually" ;);)
I like the thanks button, but ,please, an I agree button.

Will the grammar and spelling police respect I do make grammatical errors, and have carp spelling, no need to remind me.;)

Always expect the unexpected:eek:and then you won't be dissapointed

I am fed up trying to resolve my wardrobe complaint.

Tonight I got cut off just before 8pm after waiting an hour.

This was after ringing on Tuesday and being promised that they would ring back.

Does anyone have any emails for senior Ikea managers.

I believe Gillian Drakeford is the UK Group Retail manager

Use google to search for Gillian.Drakeford.

You will find an email address in the first page.
Whether it works or not... I have no idea.

I found some Ikea email addresses and sent them last week with my complaint and got a reply and phone call following day, with new wardrobe being delivered this week.

Now I find that I am having to do the same to get my money from Scottish Power, who you cant get through or arrange call back.

    Why?

If anyone needs the Ikea Customer Support email details then contact me.

    So well done Ikea then.
    It's someone else's fault.

Ikea Customer Care Specialist promised replacement wardrobe would be delivered last week. But delivery was not complete as major parts, ie. frame was out of stock. So have to wait for another week. Ikea are completely disorganised. Stock systems and communciation between departments are inadequate. Countless phone calls to an inept call centre and over 7 days in total in waiting for deliveries to fullfill my order.

    That's ok... you're welcome.
    Glad to have helped.
  • Hi, we had a horrendous scenario unfold in our home last night.... Luckily I had left the bedroom, as minutes later the mirror door on Elga Fenstad wardrobe imploded, shattering into hundreds of mirror glass shards of various sizes, one large piece actually shooting into side of our bed; let alone the numerous pieces of glass shattered all over our bedroom floor.
Went to IKEA Cardiff today to be told product had been recalled and that this had been announced in media. Well, we are a very media savvy family and we were not aware....this time bomb has been in our house for a number of years; how many other households are awaiting the same scenario?
Although the staff at IKEA were polite I was not impressed by their complacency. I was made to feel that I was at fault because I was not aware of their product 'Recall'. I felt I was being fobbed off with offers of a new wardrobe, when what I wanted was and independent report on how such a dangerous item had found its way into our home. Eventually the Duty Manager conceded that there were Independent Inspectors available to come and assess the damage/ risk to health and safety. We are awaiting call from them.
Hence, do not be fobbed off!
How many more of these dangerous items are unwittingly installed in U.K homes? I think it's scandalous. This large mirror was actually attached to the door by five thin strips of glue! I'm not a designer/ engineer but common sense suggests this is a huge design fault and hugely negligent. I bought this item in good faith but on reflection, my faith in IKEA was hugely misplaced.
