I am wondering if the usual recruitment drive for Royal Mail temporary staff has been scaled back this year, I have been receiving a lot Royal Mail deliveries at odd times up to 8pm sometimes, I had one a 6.40am last week, and several items taking 10 days to be received after they were dispatched, whilst I know that in December RM extend their delivery times they don't usually do it this early on.

The 'usual' recruitment drive relates to Mail Centre staff, not delivery offices
DOs are pretty much left with the staff they have

The delivery times are never 'extended',its simply a busier time and offices are staffed differenty
The Christmas staffing doesn't really kick in until the last week in November.
It actually makes the first 3 weeks in November hard weeks as you have packet traffic increases with no extra staffing and staff still taking annual leave
Extra collection will begin kicking in this Sunday

    Hi guys,

Just wondered if anyone has noticed more missing parcels/letters sent with Royal Mail lately. We have an online business and send out a lot of small priced items so get proof of postage but not recorded post as it would double the sale price.

I have always had a small percentage of items reported as not received and have claimed from Royal Mail for compensation. Lately I seem to be having a lot more than usual. Two of my regular customers have told me that they have had several parcels/letters not arrive from different sellers.

I know Christmas is coming so more post will be going out and ultimately getting lost but it is a lot more than this time last year. Just wondered if anyone else had noticed an increase?

YES. Have noticed 'new' or increased problems for maybe the last year.
No, Custardy, not getting into it with you! :rotfl:

I seem to be getting more INRs. I don't know if they're genuine or not but I even had an INR on amazon.

The vast majority for us are fine at the mo but the delivery times are slowly getting longer.

We send all our mail by 2nd class which generally arrives in 2-3 days but a small growing percentage are taking longer - seems to be if it doesn't arrive by day 3 it isn't going to arrive until around the 6th/7th working day.

I find Royal Mail to be very reliable.

In four years, I've only had one INR claim from a buyer, and only one parcel not received when I've been buying.

I do think delivery times can sometimes stretch beyond 2-3 days for second class - I've had a couple of instances recently where I've posted on Monday, and they haven't arrived until the Saturday.
