Estate Agent has my flat on the market to rent.

    That's what I think.

    I've not changed the lock yet. Not really moved in till Thursday.

    I emailed (reasonably polite) the agent today, but not heard back. I'll ring them tomorrow.

    Ask for viewing. If they turn up call Police. Take a witness.

    Why waste the Police's time? If the agents turn up just don't let them in.

    If they are trying it on to make their books look fuller than they are, the request for a viewing will be met with a response that the property's already gone.

    My money is on 'web site scraping' - regularly done by smaller/dodgier/online agents to make their property stock look more impressive.

    If anyone enquires (i.e you) my guess is the response will be 'Oh, we just let that one - how about X Y Z'

    Check to see if they belong to any of the estate agent associations.....and report it to them...... You could also have a word with trading standards.

    I think I'd have rung up and asked for a viewing too

    I watched a programme a short while ago on Fake Britain which featured an ea that dealt in lettings advertising about 15 properties for sale. None of these properties were actually for sale & had never had any dealings with said ea.

    Apparently you do have to be registered with a particular association to be able to sell properties & this particular company were trying to make out that they were a respectable outfit & that they were selling high end homes when the reality was they were dodgy letting agents, defrauding prospective tenants out of money by taking multiple deposits on the same flats that they had listed for rent.
    The bigger the bargain, the better I feel.

    I should mention that there's only one of me, don't confuse me with others of the same name.

    Who cares? Just change the locks and forget about it.

    As others have said, its either theyve used the photos for another property or are just trying to make their stock look larger. Either way, can be ignored.
