Surprising as it may seem my plot must be a good 200 yards from the nearest water course and given the dry hot summer that we had but my plastic covered coldframe was full of tiny toads in July August, something that really pleased me.

Seen it this morning - there was 3 of them in different parts of the allotments. First one was kind of sloped , small hill kind of thing so not for me.Last one had a hazelnut bush/tree taking up quite a lot of space.

So they one I picked is now MINE :D

Straight, wall on one side (the end), it is 2.5 rod (????) which they translated into 60 sq metres somehow but I do not think it is 60 sq metres as this is the size of my flat and the plot is not that size.

Saying that - my flat is square, the plot is a rectangle so perhaps.... Hmmmmmm

Daughetr took photos on her phone, will post when she emails them to me :)

No "mains" water but those weird containers "self filling" all over the place. No fencing allowed, can have a small shed like 2x2 metres (that is very small :( ), toilets on site.

    Wohooooooooooooooooooooooooo

Amazon for a book "plot for idiots"

Great about the shed. The really important thing to set up is gutters and a water butt to collect the rain. An old and unpunctured wheelie bin will do.

    What is the soil like?

10 pole is supposed to be 250sq meters so I guess that 2.5 pole is a quarter of that I don't think that those measurements are precise. If you could put a shed on it would save your a lot of carrying stuff back and forward every time that you visited but would cut you growing area down, do you know which way the plot faces, south hopefully, also is it very overgrown, hopefully not with bramble?

As soon as you start working the plot, start to keep records - what fertilizer/manure/lime/other soil conditioner you add to which area of the plot, what plants are grown on each area (you'll need to learn about crop rotation to reduce pests and diseases), what varieties you grow and which do well in your soil, etc.

    Does it give some idea?

Badly taken photo but.. looks smaller than it actualy is.

No idea what soil - how do I check that?

Facing where? It is an open space so does it matter? If so.. How?

    :D

I suppose not as long as it gets the sun for most of the day, that looks good to go get a good spade or fork or even one of those digging hoes and get to work as soon as you can you will soon get that prepared. Don't worry too much about the soil just ask your neighbours what to grow and what if anything doesn't grow. Try to remove as many of the weed roots that you dig up as they will sprout again if you leave them in the soil, you can compost all roots as long as you cover the pile to keep the light out they will eventually die and give you compost for the soil. Good luck get to work.
