Options
Poll started 19 Nov 2013

Barclays has just announced more bank closures. These days, many people access banking services online, via an app or by phone. So is the bank branch a dying need?

How often do you typically use a branch – other than just to use an ATM/machine in there - for PERSONAL (non-business) banking? Click the link below to vote.

I generally go in about once a week to get £5 notes as they are not available from cash machines.

Voted, 27, and was beggining of this year. I only ever go in to put money in the bank and thats via a machine. Last time I actually went to one od the front desks and spoke to someone was years ago as they are never open when I go!

Yesterday but only because I needed to get a large sum of cash out.

I'd use a branch far more often if there was one available to me.
I can cook and sew, make flowers grow.
  • Branch is an easy 5-10 minute stroll from house.
Often use it to pay in cheques/cash or have an account query.
Use online banking to manage transfers/payments but like being able to actually speak to someone face to face if needed.
  • I have internet banking but still had visit the branch to register a change of address:huh:
  • As you said except for using machines, it's almost 2 yrs ago - I go in to pay in cheques 2 or 3 times a year but they usually make you use the machines now rather than see a real person - especially on a Sat.

One of the possible answers is "A good number of times a year"?! Bit vague for a poll!

Last weekend to pay a cheque in, the paying-in machine wasn't working so I used the counter.

Normally I would use the paying-in machines (unless the queue for the machines is longer than the queue for the cashiers)
