Snow!

I wish we had snow! Deep in the south west, though, so it'll probably be a while!0

The continentals love our cars, they can not believe our fascination with huge wide wheels and tyres, they scream of laughing when we get stuck in snow, or aquaplane in the cold wet.
They find it utterly bizzare we are so unrealistic prepared for winter in such a Northerly hemisphere country as ours.Be happy...;)0 -
Nope. No snow. But plenty of hail last night so ground was still white this morning when we got up! (hail that bad it actually woke everyone up!)Wealth is what you're left with when all your money runs out0

I hope all these reports of a really snowy winter are all true. I love the snow and don't care if it makes my commute worse. It's still nice to look at and I love being all warm inside with it snowing outside.
My favourite time of year has started!!!0 -

Mine too!
Give me snow over sun anyday!!
There is nothing nicer than going out for a walk in the snow and coming home to sit on front of the fire!!Weight loss challenge, lose 15lb in 6 weeks before Christmas.0 -
There is nothing[STRIKE] nicer than going out for a walk in the snow and coming home to sit on front of the fire!![/STRIKE] worse than sitting in traffic for hours, risking pipes freezing, burning loads of fuel, not being able to predict journey time and risking falling when you do have to walk on the stuff.
Edited for Accuracy0 -
I haven't seen any snow, but I have my snow boots at the ready and will be dusting off the sledge for the kids. Something about snow makes me feel like a child again, a bit like fireworks.
On the down side, my nan is 94 and winter weather does worry me silly with her slipping on the pavement. We will do all her shopping etc while the weather is challenging but we will never talk her out of her weekly trip to Bingo or the hairdressers.0 -
It was freezing here last night but we got a smashing fire burning. Fair bit of snow lying on the grass this morning but once the oil boiler got running we had the house toasty again within 30 minutes. Residual heat I suppose.
Just realised the coal bunker is empty so had to order more black gold. Fortunately they can deliver tomorrow morning so with two full buckets in the house we can look forward to another happy night in front of the telly tonight!0 -

We've a biomass boiler with an oil boiler backup. We're due wood pellets for the biomass boiler, so that'll be £700 worth being ordered tonight, and i noticed the oil is a bit low too, so we've ordered 500 litres for that today, so thats close to £1000 of fuel ordered today.
On the plus side the wood pellets should last us until late spring and the oil will probably last a year or more.0
