Why?
Are you 12 years old? Did you have snowball fight on the way to school?
Snow is a PITA in this country. There was practically nothing this morning yet it took me 10 mins extra getting to work because either people leaving earlier to compensate or driving slower. (and that was with leaving the house at 06:35)

Do you use winter tyres Paul?
I'm thinking of investing in a set along with steel rims.0 -
I was just about to say No, it's cold but no sign of the forecast ice. But looking through the window the snow has started and i have to go out later.Liverpool is one of the wonders of Britain,

Nope 30 years old, just appreciate the changing seasons!
Are you a grumpy old man - moaning about the weather and driving? (People are right to drive slower in bad weather, ever heard of black ice?)
I love the trees changing colour in autumn and love the snow in winter - it changes how the lcoal area looks - it's beautiful!
I love how the children leave the TV's and games consoles alone and get outside and play in the snow.
If i was at home today I probably would have a snowball fight (If there was enough snow - never too old to have fun - in fact my mum who is over 60 loves the snow too and we have a sledge which we both got quite a lot of use out of last year)
Not everything in life is about work and 10 mins extra to get to work isn't really a big deal in the grand scheme of things, take some time to appreciate the simple things in life.
We can't control the weather, so might as well enjoy it where we can!Weight loss challenge, lose 15lb in 6 weeks before Christmas.0 -

I dont. The last really bad winter we had i had a rear wheel drive merc and still managed to get about. I've a golf diesel now so probably in a better position (though not sideways out of junctions! ).
Will me motor trading for so long, i never kept a car long enough to justify the expense of winter tyres, even though i know they are a great job. the golf is a long termer, so might review that.
Having said that its always just the flow of traffic that becomes the problem - either traffic moving slower and grinding to a halt or an accident happening. Not much fun on the motorway or A1.
I've also the flexibility of working from home if needs be.
If you have to traverse any hills / B roads then they would be a good idea - they are definitely worthwhile and make a big difference.0 -

The Russians would laugh at us.
However, I enjoy it. Three years ago was beautiful. Remember the time the rivers all froze? Standing on the Bann. Fantastic.“What means that trump?” Timon of Athens by William Shakespeare0 -

Oh i do too. Just not so much fun when you're trying to commute in it.

No 44! Thats not the context i was talking about it in. Its the fact once we see / hear of snow in this country, everyone panics. Thats the last thing you should so when driving. It impacts traffic flow as people start / leave earlier, and there are more accidents - moreoften caused by people driving bumper to bumper. A simple knock with two cars can cause hours of delay on the motorway or westlink.

My point was this morning there was "no snow" worth talking about but the traffic was still slower and heavier than normal and journey times were impacted.
If it had been "heavy snow" as was forecast, it would have been mental out there.
Also my wife works in the opposite direction to me, and my son commutes by car to uni in belfast and to his part time job in newry (pretty much day about), so when it snows we've the worry of making sure everyone gets home safely - we've all breakdown recovery and decent enough cars, but still, its not ideal thinking about a loved one perhaps stuck 20 miles away awaiting a recovery truck.
So no, not a fun time at all.0 -

Oh i know.
I personally havent ever had much issue moving around even though i live "out in the sticks" as it were, even during the big freeze of three years ago.
One thing i did notice recently though was the massive temperature differences we face in NI - during that freeze we were seeing -17 outside our house, yet over the summer there we also saw 30 degrees in the shade - thats some differential for heating systems / cars to deal with!0 -

Commuting is a PITA in the snow (I drive 20 mile to work in local roads mainly - so can get quite bad sometimes)
It took me 4 hours to get home from Newry about 3 years ago and I still went out and had a snowball fight when I got home eventually.
As soon as I here there is snow forecast or at the start of winter, I put my wellies, water, warm coat, and mats in the car (Mats to give the car a grip if I can't get moving on the ice - never needed them but useful to have)
Just make sure your family know how to drive in snow and be prepared for it and do leave earlier and allow more time for your journey in bad weather, and appreciate the benefits of the snow too, get outside into it!Weight loss challenge, lose 15lb in 6 weeks before Christmas.0
