This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” is fine.

Good morning everyone
Gosh it's cold and a bit wild here this morning, hailstoning like crazy at the moment but we are forecast sun later!
Staggering through to the end of the month and trying not to spend anything. Still can't get any answers from DD and GDD on Christmas gifts ... well unless you count ridiculous ideas like a hair styler for £120 from GDD. I have told her she has got no chance whatsoever. Bearing in mind, she also wants an iPAD mini from DD, if 10 year olds get things like that, what do they get when they are grown up? I think I am getting too old to understand this
Better get a move on for work, so will leave with usual well wishes for all sick people and pets and hugs for anyone who needs or just wants them. Keep well, warm and safe and have a super dayLBM 10/1/12 ~ DFW Start 6/2/12: £82,344 ~ Now Zero:staradmin:starmod::staradmin Debt free 17th April 2015 :staradmin:starmod::staradmin

Good Morning everyone.favourite day today,I really enjoy every day but Tuesdays have always been for some reason my favourite day of the week .Daft isn't it, I don't know why.its usually a busy one and today is no exception with coffee morning and pub quiz both of which I enjoy very much.My eldest DD thinks it goes back to when you used to get your family allowance on Tuesdays so it was like a small cash bonus every week , she could be right at that
:)Anyone else got a favourite day of the week ?
well time I got a wriggle on I suppose I have started my winter regime of porridge fpor breakfast and it really is a great way to start the day and warms you up before going out in the morning I make it the way my old mum made it
1 small cup of oats
2 and a dash cups of water
bring to a gentle boil stirring all the time
pour into a bowl ,sprinkle some salt on top and pour a little milk around the edges and eat.great stuff, cheap as chips and keeps you going until lunch time.
So have a good day chums and keep wrapped up warm as its getting chillier in the morning now. 36 days to go until Christmas !!! its just flying by
Cheers

Morning all, hope you don't mind me joining in
Just been to let the chickens out, ooooh goodness me its bitterly cold out this morning, been up since 4 with DS, poor boy has an headcold, think I'm guilty of passing it on to him as I've had it for the last 3 daysso a day in home relaxing is going to be on the cards today for me and him, which suits me fine as I got offered a full time Job yesterday :j
so I plan to sit and write menu plans, sort a cleaning rota and a full list of freezer and cupboard contents, then tomorrow I'll batch cook a weeks worth of meals, just to make sure everything runs smoothly as going from being at home alot of the time to working a 40hr week is going to be a huge change, so I want to make sure we are all prepared.
Anyway, hope you all have a lovely day xG.C July £21.09/£1000 -
Morning all,
Cold one here too ! finally put the heating on timed last night its so nice to wake up to a warm house.
The cold I thought was going hit me again yesterday and I still feel rotten as does OH he is having the day off, working outside when you feel bad must be horrible. I shall go in as there is no one to cover me but will come home early if I feel too bad.
Chicken rice for dinner so nice and quick to do, I shall ask OH to do a couple of washes and get them hung up.
Will do a bit more xmas shopping online later, online shopping is one of the best inventions ever I cant bear real shopping and its such a treat doping it from your armchair !
Have good days all and take care xx0 -
Morning everyone
Hugs to all those that are feeling sad/poorly x
Very light cloud, and bright, looks very chilly this morning.
DH up and getting ready to go to work.
Dinner last night was smoked sausage and mushroom pasta with creme fraiche sauce, was yummy as usual. Tonight I'm not sure but will find something I'm sure.
Work yesterday wasn't a manic Monday but did get busier as the day went on. So not sure how it will be today. I'm on the phones this morning, then Reception this afternoon.
Think the weekend caught up with me yesterday, when I got home from work I made today's lunches, made the dinner had some wine with dinner, so went upstairs to get my pj's on and went to bed - haven't got a clue what time it was but didn't wake until this morning - got up went to the bathroom and then did go back to sleep for a short while. Didn't wake all night so obviously needed it!
Keep safe and well x

Bargain Bird - so sorry the black dog was snapping at your heels xx
Hester - are you to be a grandma again?
I spent yesterday in my happy place - i.e. off my head (nicely) on strong painkillers and muscle relaxants. Im feeling miles better today though if slightly hung over. Thank God for medicines:T:T:T
Not much to say but hope to potter around today. Have a lovely day xI must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer.
Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration.
I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over and through me. When it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path.
When the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.0 -
Bore da all,
BB - so glad you're feeling brighter, chasing the bd away is a difficult thing to do.
JackieO - as our shifts start on a different day every week my favourite day changes every week, but I love when we finish on a Monday morning and I'm on my way home to bed when everyone else is sarting their week - mean aren't I?
Well, I'm chickening out of the walk this morning. My lawn is white with hailstones and it's cold and raining. the others are trying to persuade me that it's just scattered clouds where we're going but I still donet fancy it.
Gammon and veg for dinner.
Hugs to all xxx0 -
Morning,
Bright and sunny here this morning. Towels already on the line.
Going to look for a nice birthday card for DH shortly, I hate looking for a card this time of year as its all xmas cards. I should buy it in the Summer really but never remember to!
Mince and something for dinner tonight.
Did anyone watch that Fear of Flying last night. I thought most people were a little fearful of flying but those poor people! Glad I haven't sat next to one as I'm sure they'd feed your own fear. I love flying but that's probably because the little bit of fear makes it exciting, a bit like a fairground ride I suppose.
Jackie O - I like Thursdays, no idea why, it's just a nice day
TTFTM - Yep, I wonder that too.
Have a good day0 -
Morning all
Bright and sunny here but bitterly cold
Dd2 had to scrape the car. She is off to a farm visit this morning with school, I've reminded her to be careful driving as it's all country roads and very hilly .
My last day off today , I normally do an 11 hour shift on a Tuesday so I shall make the most of today. DH and I are going to call in to see his mother then nip into town to look around the Xmas stuff :T, don't think he is as keen as me:D
I have done all the Xmas present buying for friends and family but have yet to start on DH and DDs .
Don't think I have a favourite day, I have a worst day and that's Tuesday due to the long shift.
bb glad you are feeling better hon xx
Have a good day everyone xx0
