From my experience go to your local electrical wholesaler/supplier, such as CEF etc. Ask for their advice and what warranties they offer on LED bulbs because they will not last their claimed life. I only now get ones with at least 2 year warranty and from somewhere I know I can get replacements under warranty. By cheap online LEDs at your peril, as you may find it hard to get replacements when they stop working. I've used Kosnic for 3 years in the kitchen and had 2-3 replaced every year under warranty. They keep changing the designs so it shows that they are not a perfect product.

No, generally they last far longer. What is being said is that there are some duff cheap ones around, so buy carefully.

The theory/claims are that LEDs should last a lot longer (roughly say about 20,000 hrs) than halogen (roughly sau about 2000 hrs), but my experience is that they have a high failure rate within 2 years.

Depends if you want to buy a £1 GU10 halogen or around £10 on GU10 LED and hope you get your return on your investment before they start to flicker.

Work out how long on average the lights are on and and work out your energy usage, comparing say 50W/bulb to 5W/bulb with you electricity unit cost.
