Cheap led bulbs

Anyone know a cheap supplier for bulbs ?
I am looking at replacing the halogen downlighters in a back bedroom with leds.
They are GU 5.3,12v (20 watts currently)

Cheers

Do you want cheap? or good? Mutually exclusive terms in LED lighting I'm afraid.

    You can do worse than have a look at LEDHut;

  • I have just bought some off amazon .. seem ok
  • My friend has recently replaced all his low energy bulbs with some ordered from a company called Bang Goods in China - internet of course . He is happy with them and they seem to have a good selection. It is on my 'to do' list.

Well, they sound a reliable company, with a nice reassuring name.

I wonder what their slogan is?

'Make your Christmas go with a Bang'?
'Bang. Does exactly what it says on the tin'?
'You're never alone with a Bang'?

    I'll let you play now.....

I have just bought 10 MR16 9w led lamps for £13.35 on line. They seem to work just as well as my previously installed expensive ones. If they fail quickly then I shall write it off to experience and go back to the more expensive types. I thought that it was worth a punt, and I shall not complain if I lose the bet.
I can afford anything that I want.
Just so long as I don't want much.

LED lamps generate heat, not as much as incandescent, but heat nontheless. Cheap bulbs often have poor heatsinks, and this affects how quickly the bulbs will fail. Initially they may seem great, but you may find yourself noticing how dim they've become sooner than good quality ones.

How can the customer determine a good bulb from a bad one though ?
Are you saying all cheap leds are crap and expensive ones good ?

What is the cut off point price wise ?

Just if a bulb is $6 including postage from a noname brand from China vs £x from Philips, you should have different expectations.
