T-mobile Surprise Change of Data Plan

I can't find ANYTHING on the web about this ANYWHERE, so I'm asking: has anyone on a T-mobile monthly plan (specifically with only 100mb data limit, which was only throttled when you went over rather than being billed, forced to by a top up etc.) has now found that they are being forced to buy data "boosters" instead?
Surely this is a fundamental change of the contract I agreed too, even more than them raising the month prices?
