  • My MIL washes her ceilings once a year......sigh.......life's just too short for washing ceilings IMHO.

:o Well I used to clean the walls in my bedroom, but as I have shifted tiny (17month old) in with the older kids (5 year old + 3 year old), I now have to clean their walls regulalry but at least their ones are painted rather then old foamy wall paper as in mine.

Tiny think's it's funny using his milk bottle as a fire extinguisher squirting the milk on the walls rather then drinking it.

I'm now using the vax steam mop.

As to the ceilings I always hoover in the corners at least once a month.

Wish I had time on my hands then i could do a proper deep clean all over but it's nightmare cleaning with 3 year old following me around and trying to help and getting in the waywith constant questions or wrestling with tiny so I have to stop what I'm doing to run and make sure they are ok!
  • I would say that unless you have load of time then it is quicker to repaint and also it gives a much cleaner feel than washing. I do spot cleaning with magic sponges as the dog leaves muddy marks everywhere in winter. Never washed a ceiling though.

A large sponge and hot water with a splash of sugarsoap dissolved into it.

Ive done my kitchen walls as they get pretty grimey (especially over the cooker) but ive only ever done patches on the hall stairs and landing.
