Ignore what that site is saying! ^_^ it's trying to sell you stuff!!

It's marked as RAW because it can't find partition information (the index for the drive)

You only need the data recovery *IF* the partition recovery can't fix the drive.

Download the Partition manager software (it includes the partition recovery software)
    http://www.easeus.com/partition-manager/epm-free.html

See here for step by step instructions:

    don't install any toobars

select custom and untick the 3 ticks (unticking the top one will remove the other 2)
    click "NEXT"
select "custom" again and untick the box
click "NEXT" then "NEXT" again and it will install

I can see the drive in the list as local disc unformatted and in status it says none. the capcity and used amounts are the same.

I clicked on it and it turned light blue is there something I should select from the side list or top bar?

the direction on the step by step look different it looks different.

In the big window click the Drive you want to recover.
Then click "Wizard" in the top menu and select "Partition Recovery Wizard"
    When it starts click "NEXT"
    then select "Automatic"
    Then click "NEXT"
it then should show you if the partition can be recovered.

If it can't see anything click "NEXT"
Select "Yes I want to continue with the Complete search method"

unfortunately I don't have a disk handy that I can try a recovery on, so not sure what happens after that bit ^_^

Hopefully it should show you what can be recovered and let it go about it's business..

Oh well looks like the partitions cannot be found and it directs me to the data recovery that I have tried and used up without paying.

I am not sure what to do now, I know the stuff is there as its visible in the data recovery
    Thanx

ok i grabbed a disk and wiped it ^_^ (see what lengths I go to to fix a problem!!) lol!!

    ok

Start the program and select partition recovery.

You should see your main disk (Disk1) listed as well as the damaged drive (Disk2).

Disk2 should say something like :
    * Unallocated 953Gb 0byes 953Gb none GPT (this size and last bit might be different!)

Click on "unallocated" and above that window you should see 2 options show up:
    "Create" and "Partition Recovery"

    Select "Partition Recovery"

Press "Proceed" in the "Partition Recovery Wizard" window that pops up.
Go and make a cuppa! This might take a while to scan the drive for partition information

Thanks for taking the trouble but it doesn't allow me to do that, it actually says unformatted where the others say unallocated and it greys out the next button so I can only go back. It looks like this programme isn't going to work on this drive.

Its going to be an awkward one if I'm going to get the data back at all now, easeus didn't even direct me to buy the partition master premium it just said use the data recovery wizard but I've used up the free allowance now

I'm going to get to bed now and see if theres any luck tomorrow, Thanks for your help

Did you use a tool like Easeus Partition Manager though?
Hi, yeah I used Minitool Power Data Recovery, ran a deep scan which recovered a bunch of files, almost without exception they were all corrupted. Luckily had a backup (6 months old though) so decided to cut my losses and rebuild.

Reminded me I should run incremental backups each month!
    Friendly greeting!
