Hello everyone
I am currently on BT infinity, but as money is tight, I am willing to downgrade and put up with slower speeds and other infinity perks.
I am not locked into a contract with BT, that ended in May.
I would still like unlimited useage, and was attracted to the plusnet £9.99 per month (currently £2.75 for 12months) deal.
It was a toss between Sky, Virgin, BT and plusnet. Virgin wasn't available in my area, BT and Sky too dear, but plusnet had what I was after.
I contacted plusnet, and they told me that the £2.75 for 12mths package was not available, and as I was already on infinity, I could only downgrade via BT and that they would probably make me take out another contract.
I resent being trapped with BT, just because I no longer want infinity, as I have found a suitable cheaper product.
Is there a way out of this trap so I can get the plusnet deal I want?
Could anyone please help me out of this trap?
Thank you.

You could take out a new line via Plusnet, and port your BT number over? However PN will probably want to charge you £49 for the new line provision. No free lunch, and no free laptop0

Plusnet Sales did not say this to me. I wonder why.
Thanks for getting back to me.
Mebbe I should contact them and enquire.
I'm out of my BT contract, but I wonder, is there any hidden charges from them if I transfer my number over to PN?0 -

I had no problem downgrading from BT infinity 1 to Sky unlimited non fibre.
BT wanted £20 per month after 12 months free upgrade so decided to switch to Sky, pay app £3.50 per month for first 6 months then app £7 per month thereafter. Kept same number, also caller display and 1571 answer phone as landline switched at same time. Getting app 10mbps download and 1mbps upload, infinity gave me 38mbps download but haven't noticed the speed difference as I don't download films or games.0 -
Hi
I'm having trouble moving away from BT.
Apparently only they can downgrade me from infinity to a cheaper package, according to plusnet, the company who I want to be with.0 -
