Intel SSD management: Full disk encryption software detected

Hi,
hoping someone may have some insight.
The Intel SSD management module has recently been reporting that I should turn off SSD caching as it has detected full-disk encryption software.
However, I do not believe I have any such software.
I have scanned the drives for malware and rootkits and looked through all the software installed, but cannot see what software it may be referring to.
Can anyone suggest a list of such software I may need to look at?
Anything built into Windows 8.1 that may be classified as such?
Would it report this regardless of whether the software is active or not?
I like to think I'm pretty computer-savvy so some reasoned responses would be welcome
Cheers

Windows 8.1 (all editions) does indeed have something called "Pervasive Device Encryption" which as I understand it would encrypt hard disks, and do it by default.
http://technet.microsoft.com/en-gb/windows/dn140266.aspx
However it is only enabled on machines which meet Microsoft's "InstantGo" specification, which is quite strict. Is it a new (or very recent) machine?
As I understand it you can turn it off in Settings somewhere.0 -
Cheers for that, now I know what I'm looking for!
Its a Dell XPS15 (L521), ivy bridge. I'll snoop about in the settingsFriendly greeting!0 -
You may also have bitlocker turned on. That is a good thing
you can setup a pin on your drive which will be requested when your turn on your pc. If someone steals your machine the data is not accessible, so your sensitive information is safe.

Here's another article about the 8.1 encryption. It also shows how to turn it off, if that's what you have.
http://arstechnica.com/information-technology/2013/10/windows-8-1-includes-seamless-automatic-disk-encryption-if-your-pc-supports-it/
Edit: It also says that you should be able to see in Disk Management if it's been enabled.0 -
Hi,
wanted to resurrect this thread as the above answers have not resolved the issue. I was unable to find any such encryption going on as described/linked above, but I still get the messages advising to turn off Intel Rapid-start.
Is there anyone else who got this to and resolved the problem?

What is Intel SSD management module and why do you need it?0

I need it so my computer boots in 5 seconds rather than 2 minutes...Friendly greeting!0

danthemoneysavingman - I think you can turn off Intel Rapid Start in the BIOS.0

Thanks, but I dont want to turn off Intel Rapid start - I want to find and turn off this software-based full disk encryption.
I want to keep Rapid start. I have no need for full disk encryption...Friendly greeting!0 -
Hi all,
a while has passed since I first posted this and no-one appears to know what it's about... just thought I'd try again in case anyone has gleaned any info in the last 6 months...
thanksFriendly greeting!0
