New boiler fitted had issues from day one

Has a brand new Valliant boiler fitted on Thursday with wireless controller admittedly Gas engineer said electrician would come to fit frost protector which was already in place with old boiler and is left hanging down from wall loose with wires still attached. The boilers is ecotec pro along with Danfoss tp500 si range thermostat

Problem is despite turning thermostat down and you can see the bit attached to boiler the receiver click the rads remain on all time, onlky way to turn rads off is via boiler on holiday mode or turn off at on/off switch on boiler

With old thermostat Honeywell wireless I could alter temp and on/off on this model I can only turn heating down.

I suspect the controller that fits on to boiler for some reason isnt controlling it

Currently boiler on the wireless control, displaying 23.5c and should cut off at 20c.I have no way to regulate the temperature unless I use the thermostat valve on rads

Heating would be on if flame is showing this is shown as not on but flame on boiler is still on

Wireless controller is just displaying current temp 23.5c temp it should be to light boiler 20c and a home icon I think
  • if you are talking about the stat on top of your washing machine then that should be fixed to the return central heating pipe to the boiler, yes the wire needs extending because it can't be fitted like it is, if the "engineer" was capable of wiring the new boiler then he should have been capable to extend the wiring for this, although i'm not convinced he has wired it correctly, you need more lagging on those pipes, plus the white pipe MUST be lagged or it could freeze

I agree it does need some insulation for pipes he used the old insulation but it needs some more. He added a white pipe to boiler which goes into the out flow pipe for a washing machine, I just dont understand why we have no control over the heating according to the manual the rads are get heated up its not permanently one accord to manual but heating does go off at least with the controller no matter how low it goes to 5c boiler is still giving off heat

He said a electrician would come soon sort that loose frost protector dont know why he could as he was messing about with wiring as he had on top picture just under sockets there is a fused socket he had that open
  • the pipe stat works in conjuction with the frost stat (the square box on the left hand side with the round bit at the bott), the boiler has a built in frost stat although this will only protect the boiler not the pipework, so as it's in a garage you fit an external frost stat to protect the pipes, however this will only switch off if the temp in the garage rises enough (which it won't) so the pipe stat detects that the pipe is hot & therefore switches off the frost stat, so because it's not fitted to the pipe it thinks the pipe is cold so won't switch it off, it should be fitted to the right hand pipe (the one to the left of the one that goes out the wall)

Thanks very much for your help

Is there anyway I can fit the state to pipe temporary maybe with plastic ties. It so hot in house two of us are very tired heat is draining all our energy. I usually only run boiler at 19-20c tops
  • not unless you have a ret pipe in that location which from your pics it doesn't look like you have, has the pipework altered ? because that pipe stat is nowhere near the pipe now

    Set the trv's properly.

Call them and tell them to finish the job properly.

The pipes have been altered a little the thicker pipes now go into a thinner pipe before entering the boiler.

  • well the cable was long enough before because the pipe stat is on the pipe, so why does it look too short now ?

The frost thing fits the pipe fine the picture looked deceiving as looked like the cable was short sorry I just put the stat on washing machine to show what I have, some of the cable trailed behind the washing machine which is why you didn't see it
