If you mean Lyca, just click the link and it'll be pretty obvious that you have to buy it in France (unless you resort to ebay where I see it for £15.68 with €7.50 credit included).

If WiFi will be available and you have a BT landline then download BT Smart Talk.
This will allow phone calls to be made as in the UK at your BT rate (if you have free evening calls the call will be free).
Your son can phone your home number with this. It will even work with an iPad (it looks a bit silly !)0 -

Same with Virgin who have just released an a App. I've downloaded both Virgin and BT Apps. The Virgin App tells you if the call you are about to make is free whereas the BT App doesn't.0
