I bought a treat ball yesterday, so far 'cat' has touched it twice, I thiwk OH and I have spent more time pushing it around to show him how it works!!

'cat' hates lazer pen, waste of money.

Love fringes on the rug, old piece of string with old xmas bows ties on the end of it.

    Treat balls, oh my :rotfl:

I'm not sure how many calories Lily burns by pushing it around with her snout until the treats come out but never mind she enjoys it :rotfl:

We have 5 cats, one of them is an indoor cat only.

    Her favourite toys in order:
Stolen foam earplug - sneaks into my room (a no cat zone) and pinches them from under my pillow.
Feather thing on stick - loves this, she headbuts me over and over and then goes and sits on it until I make it move
Small bouncy rubber balls. She loves these, we have lots of them. Throwing them up the stairs and catching them when they bounce is great fun for her. She also picks them up in her mouth and takes them upstairs to let them go. We have tiled floors downstairs so they bounce great, she will play for hours with them, but be warned, you will need at least 20 of them as they disappear under stuff all the time - we now have a special stick for retrieving them from under tv, sofa, hoover, fridge etc etc :rotfl:

Ping pong balls - not interested at all.
Cat sense toy with ball thing - no interest.
Laser mouse - not really bothered

Loved reading all the cat toy stories.

    A delivery arrived this morning.

Laser Pen: cheap - just as well as totally ignored

Kong kickeroo: one kitty loves it, other ignores it

Squeeky mole: one kitty played with it for a short time, other ignored it
It is a good idea to be alone in a garden at dawn or dark so that all its shy presences may haunt you and possess you in a reverie of suspended thought.

I have a whole box of cat toys my cats are now bored with, its easy to go mad buying toys
The one they dont get bored with is a empty toilet roll, put some cat treats inside then fold down both ends of the tube so the treats dont escape. They will spend ages trying to get the treats out from the tube, keeps them entertained.
I also bought a play tunnel, but i bought a kids one from Argos as it was a lot cheaper about £4. Dont leave it out all the time as the cats will get bored with it, mine folds up with velcro fasteners so easy to store. I bring out the tunnel about once a week and they chase each other and play ambush for a while before it goes back to being ignored again then i put it away.
As has been mentioned earlier in the thread Cardboard boxes are great too.
I have a whiskas treat ball from a christmas stocking a few years ago the cats love hitting it around the floor to get the treats out.

dawn27 thanks for the tip re the toilet roll. Will give it a try with some dreamies in.

Unfortunately we can't use cardboard boxes for play as Nelson has the unendearing habit of peeing in them (along with DH trainers and dog beds). Earlier in the year I could smell cat wee and just couldn't work out where it was on the carpet. I was down on my hands and knees trying to find it. Turned out that I had taken some bubble wrap out of a box a little earlier in the day. Nelson had kindly peed in the box and a drop or two of the wee got onto my fleece. It was that I could smell when I was down on my hands and knees looking for the cat wee on the carpet :o:o:o

I didn't have any luck with a cheap laser pen (cat food freebie) but the one I got for around £5 was certainly a hit.

The kickeroo is a resounding success. I barely got it out of the packaging in time!

Edit: times that by two, my most stand-offish cat has succumbed to it too.

Edit: that's a hat trick, folks. My very ill and withdrawn cat was rolling around like a mad cat as well, much to my surprise! Job's a good 'un.
