  • Number 1 toy with our 6 month old kitten mini is an old champagne cork! She will chase it around the floor and bounce off the stairs after it. Mouse on a stick was popular but bored of that now.

Conkers, snail shells, scrunched-up crisp packets and discarded socks. All trumped by the royal gem that is an empty box.

  • Little balls of foil, the yellow thing inside kinder surprise, cotton buds, knotted crisp packets, tissue paper, hair grips...

Toys you spend a fortune on will be ignored after five minutes, but scraps of paper never cease to entertain them!

Oh, except for kong kickerroo - they still LOVE that two years after we bought it. We occasionally 'refresh' it by rubbing some zoom-around-the-room catnip on it and Bert especially kicks hell out of it. I'm amazed it's not in bits by now.

Oh and course, the ultimate toy: the cardboard box :D
You had me at your proper use of "you're".
  • Catnip spiders (or spidey as I name it)

As soon as a fresh spidey is unwrapped, Milo runs round the house with it in his mouth growling at the other two if they get too close for his liking! :naughty:

A laser pen entertains my kitten for hours and requires little input from em (feet up on the sofa, just waggling my hand around) and tires him out too as he scurries around trying to catch the red dot.

    +1 for cardboard box
Also if you have "leftover" knitting wool, there are free patterns on ravelry for small critters, than you can stuff with catnip.
(Sis currently tormenting/exercising cat with "goldfish" (stuffed with nip) on the end of a fishing pole & line. To add to this, Dad's supposed to be teaching her "to cast", but it being cold & wet they decided to have a go at the basics indoors... I predict a riot when mum gets back!)
  • I just bought a kickeroo, treat ball and a mop-ball (kong again) using the £5 voucher from EE to subsidize. I hope they go down well!

I bought a treat ball yesterday, so far 'cat' has touched it twice, I thiwk OH and I have spent more time pushing it around to show him how it works!!

'cat' hates lazer pen, waste of money.

Love fringes on the rug, old piece of string with old xmas bows ties on the end of it.

  • Apart from my furniture, doh, my cat loved (and still does) bits of paper or foil rolled into a ball that he could chase. Also worth a go is empty cardboard boxes, he loves those and we also got him a ball you can add dry food in that he rolls around till treats come out, hope that helps :D
  • As far as catnip toys go, I've yet to find one that my moggies prefer over these:
    http://www.amazon.co.uk/Yeowww-Cigar-Singles-Cat-Toy/dp/B001MABOQG/ref=sr_1_1?s=pet-supplies&ie=UTF8&qid=1384917227&sr=1-1&keywords=catnip+cigar

They are extremely tough and have a very strong catnip smell and will keep my cats busy for ages and a playtime session usually ends up with the cats having very wet faces as they slobber all over the "cigar" then proceed to rub it all over their heads.
