Some organisations are smart enough to recognise that you are calling their international number from the, UK but prefixing the number with 141 (caller umber withheld) gets you through very often0

You can't ring those numbers from a UK landline but they work perfectly from a mobile.
Just looked at my Co-op credit card and while it lists an overseas number it's actually the same 0844 number as for UK use. I'm fairly sure it used to be a geographic number as I had a problem with the card when I was in Thailand a few years ago and had to call them.0
