Hidden Costs of Switching Back to BT

Hi

I'm thinking of upgrading to an unlimited broadband product (probably Sky's Unlimited Offer) and wondered if I go back to a BT line rental (I'm currently with Plusnet) at a later date if their will be hidden charges involved. Does anyone have experience of this?

Many thanks

You can't have Sky BB without taking Sky Line Rental.

There's bound to be a bit of reconnecting charge, but you can offset it by getting some cashback.

Just started a BT Infinity 40GB package, will get £100 Sainsbury vouchers eventually. Had to pay £30 "connection", and about £6 for Royal Mail delivery of HomeHub 5.

They rotate the amount of voucher you get constantly, so you have to wait for the £100 offer, which will not pay out if you didn't order online.

No hidden costs. A return to donor with BT is free, but requires a minimum 12m line rental contract.
No free lunch, and no free laptop ;)
  • Many thanks for the replies. Does anyone know if you have the option of 'pay up front' (£11.70) line rental with the Sky Half Price package or will I need to take pay monthly (£15.40)?

    Cheers

You can always try to pay up front, to date this year I have attempted to do this twice with no success, the payment goes through but does not appear on my account, I'll be going into battle with Sky again in the next day or so.
My patience is running a little thin.

That's sort of the 'hidden cost', I guess. After all, there are cheaper suppliers out there (plus you are committed to BT for 12 months minimum, a telecoms supplier who scored very very poorly in the recent Which? customer satisfaction survey).
