Hi,
I'm looking to move into an apartment block in the next month or two but have been told that Virgin Media is not connected into it. Only BT and Sky. The estate agent told me that if you are moving to a property where Virgin isn't setup it would release you from your contract without any fees. Though he said I should check that... So I have just rang Virgin and they seem adamant the only thing that would break the contract is fire or water damage and I would still be liable to pay the contract (14 months worth) if I move. Is this correct? Or am I just asking the wrong questions...
Quite annoying if it is the case as it will restrict us somewhat of where we can move as doesn't sound like a lot of apartment blocks are hooked up with Virgin. Checked whether I could go onto a BT line with Virgin but apparently BT don't let them do that anymore or something.

It is correct, its in the t&c's. The estate agent just wants to let the apartment.Life is not the way it’s supposed to be. It’s the way it is. The way you cope with it is what makes the difference.0

I think you should devote more time worrying about the suitability and affordability of the apartment than the early termination penalty charges.0

You can leave once you get your price increase letter0

You can get out of the minimum term commitment you agreed to for the cable service by volunteering to take their National service (phone & BB, no TV).
However this brings with it a fresh 18 month minimum term.0 -
However an ETC will still be payable on the TV part of the contract, if you have it.
Your EA is spectacularly ill-informed, as this question comes up here several times each week. Your minimum term contract is for service at the current address, not any other address you might move to in the future. No free lunch, and no free laptop0
