by removing norton will it remove everything from norton? Is there anything i need from Norton or will AVG which i will use do all the protecting i need?

You have only mentioned anti-virus. The tool will remove all Norton products, so if you have a security suite, you will need to download a firewall etc.

IMHO i would stick with AVG instead of buying norton again and spend the money on something else

AVG is the best free anti virus. Microsoft were doing their one call on a 90 day free trial too so may be worth trying that then switching.
i would also recommend installing Ad-Aware and or Spybot search and destroy just remember to run them once a week. You can find these if you type in to google ad-aware free download or Spybot free download
