samsung note 2 making strange sound?

y samsung galaxy note 2 has started making a strange sound?
It resembles a cash register. Can anyone tell me why it does it?

Is it picking up something with an NFC chip in it? Like putting it near a contactless payment card?

Mmm how strange. I don't have contactless payment card and where ever I am, either at home or out and about it stll makes the sound.

An NFC app would only make the noise if it picked up a tag.

Is bound to be an app of some sort, though.

Tag as in a credit card next to phone springs to mind .

OP needs to look on the phone and see if their is a card reader open .
One of the card readers i tested reading bank cards had a habit of staying open .

Does this phone not have a turn NFC Off setting .

I have turned off NFC and I don't have a card reader
