That's awful, and gives a really bad customer experience. I really hate it when I want to buy something and have to spend 10 minutes debating with the sales person about why I'm not paying for their extended warranty. No should mean no the first time.0 -
Has anyone every had a goodwill voucher from DSG, this is just a plain letter telling you how much you have been given and at the botom of the letter is store instruction to show staff how to claim the amount on the Eclipse system, after you use the vouvher the staff member has to print a voucher off so they can pass this onto DSG HQ to claim the amount. I had one a few weeks back and i had to laugh at the store. while he was processing this on ther Eclipse system it went down for several minutes and when he tried again it would not allow him to as it was redeemed according to the system, so he had to phone up HQ and this is when the fun started. You would expect they would have a direct line to their tech support at HQ, well no its just like when we call them, menu after menu and then 30 mins. + in a queue, the poor lad gave up after 20 minutes and called the store manager to sort it out through another method.0

My brother is a current currys store manager and he says that things have changed a lot. Quite a lot of large kitchen appliances are online and direct from the manufacturer only (my own hotpoint cooker bought there less than a year ago is an example) I paid full price online then he arranged it as an inshore exchange after delivery for me to get his family discount.
You can't use gift vouchers or staff discount on web sales so the web only lines of products have to be paid for by card. I'd assume if OP chose a store line cooker there would be no problem at all with them accepting the vouchers.0 -
The items for which vouchers cannot be used are not advertised anywhere in store nor are their catalogues offering their sale in store... They are only advertised on the website.
They can be ordered in store, but this is effectively the store placing the order on the website on your behalf.
You can't (nor would you expect) to be able to use your vouchers online, so it's reasonable that you can't use them for these effective online orders.
The alternative is that they send people away when they come in to store asking for these cookers and other direct from manufacturer orders and make people purchase themselves online... Which would also be seen as bad customer service! It's because they don't hold the stock as a company, it has to sit on a separate system.0 -

Why would you not expect to be able to use vouchers online, some stores do it like John Lewis and Tesco. I know many don't but its not a blanket rule.0 -

I had one for free where an item I reserved was sold to a staff member (heavily discounted game), mine just scanned straight through though.0 -
