Google maps

I decided to trust my Huawei P6 Google Maps to get me from Hastings to a School Theatre in Tenterden, Kent, and it proved to be totally reliable and got me lost, in the middle of nowhere.
Is Google Maps not to be relied upon, and if so, is there a suitable alternative app, possibly free, that I can install on my mobile?

Were you relying on a download, or were you using a live connection?
Did you search by name or by postcode?
When it "got you lost", was it because the road was a dead-end, or something else?1. Have you tried to Google the answer?
2. If you were in the other person's shoes, how would you react?
3. Do you want a quick answer or better understanding?0 -

Firstly are you sure that you had the correct destination?
If you looked at street view once you got the destination was it in the correct place?
Secondly was the connection to the network still active when it got you lost?
I use navfree to get me places as it doesn't need a network connection. But to be fair i normally search on postcode and then put the destination exactly where i want it manually.“Time is intended to be spent, not saved” - Alfred Wainwright0 -
On Google maps Hastings to to Tenterden seems to be A21 out of Hastings, turn right, A28 all the way.
Why use a sat nav for that?
Just use a sat nav when you get to Tenterden to locate the venue.0 -
If you dont have to worry about data charges try Waze https://www.waze.com/ my kids use it and say its good.
I use Sygic personally, http://www.sygic.com/en and its very good, I got it a few years ago for about £15.00 from the app store, it gives you 3 ways to get to your destination fast, economical and scenic also used it in spain no problems.0 -
+1 for waze, used it for a fair while now. usually reliable. has the occasional hiccup, but that happened with my TomTom too.Never put off till tomorrow what you can do today!
Cos if you do it today and like it...You can do it again tomorrow..
