If you are using the overtaking lane to pass slower moving traffic and then returning to the left hand lane at the first opportunity, then you are using the lanes correctly.
If you are bombing along at 70MPH in the outside lane because you view it as "the fast lane" with the left hand lane being the "slow lane" for people doing 60mph and under, then you are NOT using the lanes correctly, and are likely to be a hazard to yourself and other road users.
The thing is though when I do be on the motorway the slow lane has an endless stream of vehicles going under 70 mph and as a result I could be on the fast/overtaking lane for at least 30 minutes at a time. I think it's pointless to return to the left lane only to return to the right lane in less than a minute. I see some who do this but I don't agree with it.0 -
I have to say there is nothing more annoying than driving along in the left hand lane at 60-70mph, catching up with the car in front of you who is going slower, then not being able to overtake as there is a steady stream of traffic in the overtaking lane using it as a fast lane.
Had they been in the left hand lane as they should have been, then I could have overtaken and pulled in in front of the slower moving car as well0 -

It's a dog eat dog world - you chose the wrong option and paid the price.0 -

Unfortunately, your view is at odds with the law.0
