Exchanging contracts today

I exchanged yesterday, I would say I was able to throw out exchange dates only in the last 10 days or so, but I had to keep on at the solicitors to make sure tha last few queries were answered.0

Thanks everybody. Unfortunately we didn't get to exchange on Friday, we were all good to go but found out our buyers mortgage lender needed 7 working days notice for release of funds! Why this only came to light at 2pm on the day we were supposed to exchange contracts I have no idea, I would have thought their solicitors would have been aware of this kind of thing (mine told us that our mortgage lender needed 5 days notice ages ago).
Hopefully it's only a small delay as we have been told that we should be able to exchange Wednesday/Thursday and still complete on Friday *keeping everything crossed*.
Alwaystryyourbest - it depends how many people in your chain I think, and how proactive they all are. One thing I have learnt is to keep checking with solicitors and EA's every few days to see where they are all at. I stupidly didn't do this for the first few weeks, assuming that I should leave them to do their job, it was only when we started getting phone calls from our vendors EA's that it transpired that our solicitors were being extremely slow at sending documents and were not responding to emails etc. They have been fine now that I have been chasing them, to be honest they are probably sick to death of hearing from me so have worked quickly to get things finished!
Good luck to everyone else who is hoping to exchange soon, hope all goes well!0 -

I had a house offer excepted yesterday, so I wondering when I should be signing,??? should it be in December all being well or properly January..
AE are moving things along nicely so far..
And also how long before do you find out before you get a exchange
Date ??
I now by asking it,s a bit like how long is a bit of string.
But just wanted people thoughts
THANKS..
We had our offer accepted mid Aug and exchanged last week, which i believe is about the average about of time it should take. Im in a chain of 3 and it was our vendors onward purchase that was the hold up as they had on going queries for about a month. We were ready within 4 weeks so had to play the waiting game for a while.
I had no clue we was going to exchange until the day before. I believe until everyone in the chain is ready and a completion date has been set exchange cant happen.
Fingers crossed will be quick for you

My offer was accepted mid August, there is no chain and still have not exchanged!! Fuming and very stressed. All I know is that it's highly unlikely I will do this again!!
Good luck on all waiting on exchanges.0 -
