Morning all, just drove back along the seafront from gym and the waves and sea were just so dramatic. Brilliant blue sky and very windy here.

Off to the Swedish store this pm for a few bits, hopefully to get an elf to do the naughty things elves do at this time of year, my youngest is 34 this week!!

Still eating out of the freezer to free up space for goodies whe I start baking ......

Take care all and hugs to those that need them

  • Hi chums one of my lovely neighbours gave me a huge bag of surplus dwarf green beans this morning and I have been busy topping and tailing them. Now they are rinced and ready. So the question is do I blanch them first or just cut'em up and bung them in the freezer .I can't decide Does anyone else on here blanch before freezing.I used to do it with carrots but I ran short of time once and just chopped and froze them and they seemed to be OK.I don't want to waste a 'freebie.I also was given a couple of large courgettes.Any ideas for a good recipe I can use them up in .I am limited at the moment for space in the freezer as its bulging full of odds and ends.

    Good morning everyone,

It's been very sad here as one of our evil kittens got run over on Wednesday night. He was killed instantly so that was a blessing rather than have him suffer but unfortunately it happened in front of my eldest DD and the grandchildren. The 2 yr old wasn't affected but my 5yr old grand daughter is very upset and there have been lots of questions about death and what happens after. I will tell her about the poem 'Rainbow Bridge' to see if that helps. Poor evil kitten 1 is very confused and wanders the house calling for his brother which is upsetting but hopefully he will forget him as soon as his scent wears off in the house.

Thank goodness it's Friday, it's been a pig of a week and I will be glad to see the weekend. Hubby will be home in a little while and I will be very pleased to see him. I was up in the early hours and went back to bed before he left for work so I missed him this morning. Had a lovely visit from one friend this morning where we drank coffee and put the world to rights and now I'm waiting for another friend to visit. She has been in Spain for a few weeks so we have lots to talk about.

Tea tonight is pie and chips, good freezer food as I cannot be bothered to cook from scratch. I managed to lose 4lb last week at WW so I'm not too worried about one meal being very high calorie.
The girls want to have a bake off on the weekend so they are competing to see who can make the best gingerbread men. Ideal as they will be used up as after school snacks for next week. My cupboards and freezers are overflowing so I'm hoping to not spend very much next week. When I'm stressed I shop whether it be for food or christmas presents but I'm broke now so I need to reign myself in and find another way to deal with the stress that doesn't involve money or chocolate.

Anyway, I'm off to ponder that, and so I will love you and leave you. Hope everyone manages to have a good weekend and plenty of gentle hugs available for all who would like one.
    Cheers m'dears x

Dumpling - sorry to hear about the kitten. :-( I don't think we'll ever let our devil kitten out... Found him curled in up in the bathroom sink this morning with a tap dripping on his head. ODD little creature.

Pie I made yesterday was lovely! service it with mash and broccoli.
Have decided January will be 'Veganuary' so have been looking at what new products have come out since last 'vegember' surpised to see ready made pastry is vegan friendly, so lots of pies in order for Jan!

using up L/o pasty and veggie sausages tonight to make some sausage rolls ,we'll have some for dinner with wedges and beans and i'll freeze the rest for next Sunday's lunch.

Hope to clean the downstairs tonight, and upstairs tomorrow and to get out with the pup for a good few hours.

Must stay off the beer/wine. If I succeed with staying sober tonight it will be my 6th day. I feel SO much better for it and would like to keep it that way till my birthday atleast!

Got donated some apples, so will make some crumble tomorrow. or maybe tonight.

    Hugs to all! xx

Jackie, I usually rinse, top & tail and then slice before putting them into bags & freezing. Then I squeeze & shake the bags to loosen them so they squidge into odd spaces ;)

    So sorry dumpling x
I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer.
Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration.
I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over and through me. When it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path.
When the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.

Dumpling I'm so sorry to hear about the kitten; one can only be thankful he didn't suffer. Rainbow Bridge should help to little one come to terms - though I must admit it always makes me cry, as so many of my fur-friends have left for the Summerlands. As I'm disabled myself, I get a lot of the elderly and not-so-well clients of the dog-sitting service, and it always breaks my heart when one of them departs.

Mr LW is on late shift today; I hope there's not a lot of stuff to have to do this evening, so that he's home at a reasonable time. I should explain - a lot of changes to the system have to be applied after the users have all logged off, and it's down to the person on late shift to do this.

I've given Bonnie a good brush today - and got enough fur off her to stuff a small mattress. The amount she's moulted this week, I'm surprised she has any fur left!:D She was shaking her ears a bit this morning, so I've done them with the ear cleaner she brought with her, hopefully they're more comfortable now.:o I shall miss her when she goes home on Sunday; but I'm told that her usual host has given up hosting, so maybe she'll come back here at some point.:o
If your dog thinks you're the best, don't seek a second opinion.;)
