This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” is fine.

Good morning everyone
Brrrrr - it's a chilly one here today, winter feels like it's on the way and they were gritting the motorway at 9pm last night.
Although I have only been in work 2 days this week, it feels like a really long week and I am very glad it's Friday.
Fingers crossed we can get old faithful removed this weekend, they did promise they would do it Saturday morning but I don't feel 100% confident and may try and get a back up plan in place today.
I better get ready for work, so will leave with usual well wishes for all sick people and pets and hugs for those who need or just want them. Keep well, warm and safe and have a super dayLBM 10/1/12 ~ DFW Start 6/2/12: £82,344 ~ Now Zero:staradmin:starmod::staradmin Debt free 17th April 2015 :staradmin:starmod::staradmin

Morning TTFM & all who cross/follow
Car scraping again this morning, brrr.
I slept better last night, the twitch in my eye seems to have subsided.
I'm so glad it's Friday, it's seemed to be a long week.
There is training being run next week at work but nothing to do with me or my job, so I've declined the invitation. I believe work have a legal obligation to provide training, especially now they are doing appraisals, so I'm holding out for some training on my machines that is over a year overdue.
Have a good day everyone.

Good Morning chums ,brr but its definitely winter now.Heating has just clicked on and my house is slowly warming up.
I have to take DD to work this morning as her little car is still off the road.then this afternoon I will have to forgo History as she will need dropping at the dentists and then taking back to work .Bless her she is really stuck without her car as transport links aren't very good locally, plus as a letting agent her car is vital for taking clients to view properties so she actually is losing commission at the moment.
Tomorrow I am out all day at my friend's house in Dartford We are going to a craft fair in London in the morning then out to lunch and then back to her DDs to have a cuddle with the new little twins then home to her house for dinner in the evening so it will be a busy day tomorrow as well.Just done my accounts and paid all my bills so I'm once again solvent for the next month:):)I have a bit put by for tomorrow in case I see something I fancy at the craft fair, good place to spot the odd Christmas present.
Hope you all have a good day and keep wrapped up well.My winter coat will get worn this weekend I think as it has a nice furry collar
Cheers chums

Morning all,
Cold here this morning with a frost too, We put the heating on last night for a couple fo hours it was bliss, I need to reset the timer to come on so that its on in the morning for 1/2 hour and then to come on for 1/2 hour when we are due home.
Work for me again today so will not be in till later, I did a wash last night and put it in the airer and I hoovered through downstairs, i will do another wash tonight and try and get ahead for the weekend.
Dinner tonight will be a fry (grill up!) so nice and easy.
Have good days all xx0 -
Morning everyone
Hugs to all those that are feeling sad/poorly x
Light cloud, but looks chilly here this morning.
DH up and enjoying a cuppa - he's having day off as we're going away.
Dinner last night was chicken and bacon kievs, chips and beans for the menfolk. I had mushroom omelette and salad. Tonight I'm not sure - but have several different bits in the caravan - I think I'm going to pick up 1 of the 2 dine for £10 meals on the way back from the bank this morning - when we attend this functions, we very often don't get to eat properly as we're always running round sorting things out, entertaining people etc - so it's something I've tried to be much more pro-active with, also with the amount of alcohol - we really need to eat a decent meal beforehand! Boys will be getting spoilt at their nan and grandads - no doubt!
Was reasonably productive - got the ironing done, and our bag packed, also some of the other bits together - the dining room looks like we're going away for a month - at least most of it won't be coming back!
Wasn't happy with the on-line delivery service yesterday - the shopping just didn't arrive in the time slot booked and I hadn't heard anything to say it was late/not being delivered, so rang the helpline - the advisor said she didn't know why I hadn't got the delivery and also why I hadn't been told if there was a problem. It turns out that the delivery trucks were late getting out from the depot hence then everything was running late - so I asked if that was the case was it not usual practice to text/email/call the customers to advise this? Apparently I should have been advised so got the delivery fee refunded. Was pleased it did arrive as the mnefolks dinner was part of the order!
Will be going to visit the bank in town shortly, then straight home to pack the car and get away - to collect the caravan and get to the site - always feel apprehensive at this point, will be fine once we're on site and set up. We're hosting a reception for approx 30 people tomorrow lunchtime, normally I would prep and cook the food, but this year the organisers have chosen a venue with it's own bar and restaurant so I'm not able to do the food myself - we have to use their catering facilities - much easier for me but much more expensive - so I've had to be much more economical with what I've chosen, - not my ideal situation but I can't change it! Hoping everyone enjoys what I've booked and the catering team do a good job for me!
Keep safe and well x

Morning
DH has the day off today and is currently enjoying a lie in, hopefully I might get one tomorrow or Sunday!
There was a vague plan for me to hire a brush cutter and scalp the !!!!! tip that is our back garden but I fear it has gone out the window. Perhaps instead whilst Frog is napping I will dig out the muncher and chop down a mad hedge instead.
We did have lasagne last night but DH didn't listen to my instructions about the timings for garlic bread so it was in for 15 minutes too long, it was on the dark side when it came out which I felt compromised it a bit but he didn't seem to mind.
1st Christmas cake got made yesterday and 40 odd HM chicken burgers for Frog, they are now in the freezer and the cake is about to go into a tin for weekly feelings of brandy. Cake #2 will be made n ext week I think
Had the oddest dream last night about Bob turning out to be twins  and they arrived early with nothing ready for them etc etc. we know for sure there is only Bob in there thankfully
Playgroup this afternoon and toad in the hole for dinner is the rest of the days plans.
Hugs all round and hope you all have a good day xxWhether you think you can or you can’t, you’re probably right ~ Henry Ford0 -

Morning all,
Cold here but I'm layered up and have found a warm spot in the house thanks to my elderly Age Concern thermometer card that gives a temp for the room you're in. I was working in the breakfast room because I thought it was easier to keep warm, turns out the larger room was warmer, so I'll be working in there now.
I'm on the big computer as my laptop has decided it's not connected to anything - usually this computer is the one sulking. Really must get on to BT as the modem to ancient and has to switched off/on almost daily.
Dinner tonight will be beef casserole from my YS bargain the other day.
Stay warm xI can cook and sew, make flowers grow.0 -
Good Morning everyone
Yay its Friday :j
Cold here but dry and no frost. Have got lots to do today, have last shift at work tonight and in an hour am off to get a new windscreen fitted to OH's car. Need to do some essential paperwork first.
Once home will be getting things organised as OH & myself are off for the weekend to Brighton to see DD. DS is staying at home :eek:so need to sort him our food and get our little dog dropped off to my sisters. Have to be truthful and say I am feeling overwhelmed at the moment but hopefully that will pass when I get going.
Not sure if will be posting at the weekend, but if not - have a lovely weekend everyone, keep warm and safe x0 -
Hi everyone,
Quiet on the thread again today, people must be busy.
I didn't get all my fruit for the cake and pud yesterday, Lidl only had raisins and cherries so I shall try Aldi. I did get a big bag of maris piper spuds to go in the garage, £7.00 for 25kg which I thought compared well with the price of the small bags in the shops, although they will need washing. I always use maris piper, they make the crispiest roasties.
In the afternoon I went for a long walk because it was so gorgeous but boy did my leg suffer last night, I must try to get out more, since the dog died I've not had the incentive to go out.
Had a meeting of a new group setting up a good neighbour scheme in the town, it was only half an hour but the Chairman managed to tell e his life story and that of his children and didn't listen to a word anyone else said, so I can see fun times ahead!
I hope everyone has a good day - BB take it easy, I hope you manage to resolve your problems with DD.0
