Stove top/ ecofan a and high canopy woodburners?

Was just about to buy a stove top fan on amazon when noticed a thing about placement,..,back of stove not near flue. I have a clearview with a high canopy, so there is not all that much space on the top, and the back is essentially by the flue. Does this make it a worthless purchase for us?

As i understand it the fan works on heat exchange so it needs a heat differential between the front and back to work properly.
If it is too close to the flue you would risk fouling the fan blade on it and the heat difference might not be great enough for it to work properly.
I can't catergorically state it wouldn't work but it seems a risk when you consider the initial cost.
You could try speaking to someone like caframo?0 -
My 810 fan is situated at the back of my burner as the instructions say but because of the restricted space it over hangs the side by about an inch (making sure there is enough clearance for the fans/flue) Not a huge problem but does mess with my OCD a little as its not central...
I have to say I find the room not as hot as it was pre fan but i'm hoping this means its sending the heat around the house (hard to gauge that one)0 -

Heat dispersal would be fine:).
I think the problem is with the very high canopy clearview there might be no where to correctly position an ecofan, I was hoping one of the many woodburner users here might have a high canopy model and have some experience!
Maybe you could settle OCD by putting another on the other side0
