This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” is fine.

Good morning everyone
We have our "new" car but it still needs a couple of little jobs and MOT renewing but those will have to wait for next week, at least we have a driveable car at the moment. Old faithful still hasn't been collected and that is scheduled for Saturday morning. All I am bothered about is we can get to work and get back to normality .... or as close as we ever get to it!
Very long day today as DH is at parent's evening, so I am going to try and make up some of the hours I have lost over the last couple of days.
No other real news so will leave with usual well wishes for all sick people and pets and hugs for anyone who needs or just wants them. Keep well and safe and warm and have a super dayLBM 10/1/12 ~ DFW Start 6/2/12: £82,344 ~ Now Zero:staradmin:starmod::staradmin Debt free 17th April 2015 :staradmin:starmod::staradmin

Good morning chums, very chilly this morning ,maybe because I have just got up from my warm cosy pit
:):).Dds little car failed its MOT yesterday and is in the garage getting (hopefully) mended. So I will not only be doing the school run for a couple of days but will have to run her to work and pick her up afterwards as well. Her OH has a college day today so its going to be a bit of a mad rush this morning.
My gardener comethis this morning and will be planting the last of my bulbs for me.then my garden should be OK and put 'away' for the winter.
I also have a Drs appointment this morning so its going to be a busy day.My eldest DGS Danny is 23 today bless him.Tomorrow night he is on the 'Pointless' show dressed as Pudsey Bear and ends up dancing with Terry Wogan so we will all be watching him:) Keep your eyes peeled B/Bird
DD came and we took seven bags of 'too big' clothes to the charity shop,My wardrobe looks virtually bare now but also I am pleased as it means I won't be tempted to over eat and put the weight back on
This week seems to have flown by and it will soon be Christmas.
Right I'd better get a wriggle on and have a shower and some breakfast
Hav a good day everyone what ever you are doing
Cheers JackieO xxx
P.S. anyone watching Paul Hollywoods pies and puds programme in the afternoon.I am putting his book on my Christmas 'wish list' (along with him, as he is rather dishy himself:):) )

Morning, Glad you're back on the road again TTFTM x
So yesterday I did a bit of sorting and wrapping for the children. I wrapped gifts for everyone else ages ago, just waiting on baby so I can label them up and start writing cards. So I plan to do an hour a day to get the children's gifts all wrapped and ready. I have everything but 1 DVD not released yet, and gifts for DD and DS from baby (hand made personalised picture frames).
I have a photo shoot with my sister in law on 7th Dec to get a family photo and some nice photos for the photo frames. As this Christmas my family will be complete, and I want to make the most of that memory
Today my In-Laws are coming, I have a midwife appointment and due to my health I'm not allowed to drive until baby is here, DH is in a meeting so they're coming to spend time with DD and get me to my appointment. I think it's lovely of them.
My MIL has stayed twice for 2-3 weeks when DH went away to the states with work. Lucky we get on well... She's been amazing!
FIL is a fussy eater, so I'm making sausages and chips for dinner!
Anyway, I have to sort my monthly food deliveries for next week, looks like I'm going to be over budget again... But I'll do a full audit at the weekend and cut it back to the bone.
Hope everyone has a great day xxxWe spend money we don't have, on things that we don't need, to impress people we don't like. I don't and I'm happy! Mortgage Free Wannabe :dance:Overpayments Made: £5400 - Interest Saved: £11,550 - Months Saved: 240 -
Morning all,
Not so cold here today off to work for me and OH and DD off to uni. Working all day, dinner tonight will be something with chips nice and easy.
I have tesco delivering tonight and I must do a wash and get it on the airer. Should also hoover through but will see how I feel, I am normally shattered after a long day.
I have started to order a few bits and bobs for Xmas, but I really need to get on with it, like Jackie O I have a load of Birthdays in Nov / Dec, normally I am very organised but this year with my dad has knocked me for six, oh well I am sure it will get done eventually.
Have good days all xx0 -
Morning all
No frost here either and a little milder too but I still think it's time to dig out my scarf.
Today I need to get a wriggle on and into the shower so that I can get to town and hand in a form for DH to the bank, deliver my latest bookkeeping invoice and pick up some mixed peel for my first (of three) Christmas cake.
I left the fruit it soak up the brandy last night but the 3 tablespoons seems very meagre and the fruit doesn't look very plumped IMO, not sure if I should add more or not ... any suggestions?
I will try to get the cake into the oven whilst Frog has a nap (fingers crossed) and then it will be finished mid afternoon. I also need to do washing and putting away and general tidying whilst she's at nursery.
Still didn't have lasagne for diner last night, we had the architect round to chat to us about our proposed plan for an extension and he didn't leave until almost 8pm so far to late to start making it. It WILL be made for dinner tonight though!!!
That reminds me I also need to make some chicken burgers for Frog to go into the freezer for her dinners. I shall make sure I use freezer suitable baking paper this time not grease proof paper between them as the grease proof welds itself and needed a nuclear bomb to separate them
Hope everyone has a good day xxWhether you think you can or you can’t, you’re probably right ~ Henry Ford0 -
Morning everyone
Icey - I agree 3 tablespoons alcohol does seem a very meagre amount - I soaked the fruit in brandy for my cake for 3 days and just tipped some out of the bottle in, left it covered over the first night, stirred it and put some more in - have used a third of a big bottle between xmas cake and 2 x 1lb xmas puds - but we do like it that way and it does help the cake/pud keep moist. We really don't like dry cake/pud.
Hugs to all those that are feeling sad/poorly x
Light cloud, windy but not so chilly and no frost here this morning.
DH up and gone to work early but not stupid early.
Dinner last night was lamb casserole, dumplings, mash, carrots, peas, green beans, Lo cauli/broc/leeks in cheese sauce and yorkshires. Not quite sure what we will be having tonight but may be ham and cheese kievs, chips and beans for the menfolk, I'll have omelette and salad. I have an on-line delivery later on this afternoon, so hopefully the dinner will be included in that order.
Was reasonably productive yesterday - got the xmas cake and 2 x xmas puds made - so feel much happier that I've got them done, trying not to think about how much electric and gas I used - cake took 3 hours to cook and xmas puds 2 hours each and had to cook them separately! But they always taste so much nicer homemade and I it does give me such satisfaction that I've bothered to make them. I managed to get another wash done, dried and ironed. Finished DH's report and printed it out. Today I have quite a few jobs to get done, but all within reach as I've been off this week. Shortly I will be heading to A***s just to pick up a couple of bits that I can't get anywhere else, then it'll be home to get stuck in to the housework, any washing, drying and ironing (1 small load in WM as we speak). DW packed and will put my cup and bowl from brekkie in then I'll set that on timer to come on after WM has finished.
Need to pack for the weekend, and check that we have everything we need to take ready.
Keep safe and well x
