Anyone doing Shop and Scan?
Comments

As far as I'm aware they have never done member referrals but some have been known to get two invites and give the other away. I got two as I had two email addresses registered (not entirely sure how I managed that but suspect it was something to do with competitions!). It was a long time ago though and I gave it away. They're a good company to get involved with if you can.0

As you can see from following quote from their website no referrals allowed.
"Please note at present it is not possible to ask to join the panel, the panel is by invite only, and invites cannot be requested. Also we do not allow any referrals. "
If you want to register an interest, go to
www.volunteer4panels.com
Thanks for explaining, I misunderstood the meaning of the invite number. As I said above though, I've already registered with volunteer4panels so hopefully I'll hear back from them soon.0 -
Hi Everyone,
I have been accepted for Shop and Scan and received my scanner today.
I am a bit confused and am probably being really stupid but hope someone on here can help.
Firstly I just have to plug my scanner into a normal plug socket so how is my information sent...do I have to do anything computery to send it..
Secondly, I have looked on the website and the booklet they sent me but can't see how much I get each week for sending the data...Do I get a set amount per shopping trip or per week..
Hope someone can help me out...xx;)I HAVE NOTHING TO SAY;)0 -
Hi!
Shop and Scan is very simple to use, I've been using it for over a year now so I'll try my best to explain.
The booklet has the names of those in the household, shops, total recpiet price and items that don't have barcodes (meat from butchers, bakery, veg etc). Everytime you shop during the week you scan it. Scan each store separately so if youve got shopping from Tesco and Superdrug, scan Tescos shopping then scan your shopping from Superdrug on its own.
Scan in the following order:
Who bought the shopping
Store
Receipt price
The items bought.
There are special barcodes for items that are reduced or on offer, so if it's half price, scan the half price barcode then the item. You must keep your receipt.
On Sunday of each week, you will connect your scanner via USB to your computer and 'transmit' your barcodes, then you will need to scan or take a photo of your receipts and upload it too. Connecting the scanner to the pc also charges it.
You will receive 1100 points for your barcodes and 500 points for your receipts. You need to upload both each week, it doesn't matter how much or how little you buy, if you only scan once and upload both the barcodes and receipts then you will still get full points. If I'm right in thinking you get 10,000 points to get you started.
10,000 points gets you £10 worth of vouchers available from their rewards portal, it builds up quick! I've already had an £80 voucher and on my way to another.
Good luck, if you need any more help just ask0 -
which scanner have you got? a little rectangle about 5cm long with a small slot to connect to the pc via the usb slot? or a large scanner which sits in a cradle connected to the phone line?
if it is the small one, ou scan your info in the booklet and then scan your barcodes, you connect it to the pc once a week and login to their website to transmit your barcode and send receipts in each week.
if it is the cradle you need to connect it through your phone line, plugs into the phone socket and when you have scanned you return it to the cradle and it automatically transmits the information, you also have to login to the website to send receipts

You will probably need to use internet explorer to send off your scans.
I do as neither firefox nor opera would work for me.
If you plug in your 'clicker' and it doesn't work, you can install the driver which I think was on the CD in the back of the booklet,I think it is on the website too.
There is a video on the website to help with what to do.
For photos you can use a flatbed scanner, a digital camera or a mobile phone camera.
I use a phone camera.
Then you need to get the pictures onto the computer .
They will be there already with a flatbed scanner but for a camera or camera phone you have to plug in a cable to put them on the computer.
I open mine in irfan view(which is a free program) and make sure they are all the right way up but I don't know if you really need to,its worth checking them anyway to make sure they are readable.
They pay you in points and usually I get an email on Monday to say they have received the scans and another later Monday or early Tuesday saying they have received the receipt images.
All together you get enough points every week to make £1.60 so it isn't long before you can convert them to vouchers.0 -
Thank you everyone. My scanner is one that sits in a cradle...about the size of a large chunky mobile phone. It says on the FAQ's that no computer connection is required and I do not have a landline which they know. It also says in the booklet that they get the data sent to them every night so I am really confused now. Also I can't find anywhere to upload the receipts...xx;)I HAVE NOTHING TO SAY;)0

Sorry for confusing you, I didn't know there was two types of scanner. What I've told you may not be relevant to you at all!0 -
I found some videos on the site and apparently my handset is a GPRS one so doesn't need connected to anything. Still can't find anything about the receipts though so maybe Northern Ireland is different for that. Thanks for all your help.;)I HAVE NOTHING TO SAY;)0

i used to have one of those scanners, it is quite easy once you get the hang of it, although i kept having connection problems so they swapped it to the smaller one, which i have to say i prefer.
its been a while since i had it but when it is sitting in the cradle it should be constantly be able to connect to the phone line and it just sends the information automatically once a week. so no you dont have to do anything computery to it ... it does it all itself. however you still have to send your receipts in once a week, by photo or scanner and login to the website
you get something like 1100 point for scanning shopping and 500 points for receipts (around that anyway) each 10000 is worth £10.
good luck hope you get the hang of itCompers challenge 2024 wins!!!!.... Oct £60... £10 free spins, £50 palm, m&m pouch0
