orange livebox broadband wifi question

Hi

Im attempt to connect my new laptop via wifi to Orange internet, Livebox.

Ive wrote down the long 26 key security but doestnt seem to like it. works fine with the red cable.

Any ideas please?

Is the wireless enabled?

Right security settings on the laptop? WEP or WPA?

Older equipment maybe WEP only.

Firewall or AV blocking wireless access?

The old HORRANGE Livebox used to have a pairing button on it.
Had to press for ~ 5 seconds,light started flashing, then you had 5 minutes (I think!) to establish the new wireless connection - worked by device MAC filtering.

Thanks gor all the suggestions.


After attempting number 1 followed by 26 digits, I decided to call broadband people direct.


They got remote access, went to Invatel/router home page something like
Connecting to A Router Using 192.168.1.1

where they could see what my problem was/correct security for the wifi.


I'd totally forgot that when the wifi was set up around 6 months ago, the chap who did it changed the long 26 to a shorter code for ease in getting wifi, just I cant remember being told about it.


All now sorted.. laptop here, laptop there, laptop bloomin everywhere.
