Clock slowing down ?????why ?

When I asked, "what will I notice if the battery isn't changed ?", I think I know the answer now.
Today it is Friday 15th November, some of my favourite websites are still in Thursday 14th mode, ie Sky News, paperboy.com, digital spy,bbc weather and several more.
Unless someone else posts that they too have this problem, then clearly it really is the battery and the sooner the better.
That's possibly because your web browser had stored those pages in the cache. If you ask for them again within a certain time, you'll see the cached pages instead of downloading the "live" ones from the website.
If the clock was running slow, maybe the browser thought the cached copies were very recent ones. You can bypass the cache by doing a "hard refresh" on the relevant page (usually by hitting CTRL+F5 or CTRL+R).0 -
Update.
I have been through each favourite webpage and hit refresh and it did just that, brought things up-to-date.
Next, I have phone a local internet support shop and explained to them giving relevant details. They confirmed our theory that it's the cmos battery and they would be able to do it. I made it known that I knew these batteries were cheap, he said yes, it will be the cost of the battery plus £20. I just have to leave it with then an hour. Will go down later. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -
Keyboard removal is usually a DIY job, it depends on the model. Try it yourself and if problems take to PC shop.No free lunch, and no free laptop0

Laptop ok !
Took it to repair shop, explained everything to them. They said it might be ready this evening or tomorrow but if they find they need a different battery for it, I might have to wait.
A few hours later they rang to said it was ready for collection. It wasn't the battery we expected, but one which cost £4.95, plus their £20 fee, so that wasn't too bad (imo).
He did say that if the clock fails again, then to take it back and they would explore further. Just in case you're interested, I took it to http://www.e-aquila.com/
