Got precisely 2 gooseberries thanks to gooseberry sawfly...

Strawberries have developed a mysterious disease...

but the raspberries are going crazy! They're huge and there are lots of them - last night we picked three pounds, and there will be more tonight, and tomorrow... Going to make jam this weekend and probably next weekend too.

Our Maxim strawberries have just about finished but the alpine ones are just starting - so going from huge to mini but the alpine ones are so tasty! ( but boy do they spread:mad:) pm me if you want one or two later in the year - but you have been warned - they spread!
Raspberries have just started to glut - even some autunm ones are ready which is a little worrying.
Masses of gooseberries but not ripe yet, red or green - but no sawfly this year. They have been hopeless for the past three years, not a leaf left by now - very odd.
Bramley and Bismark apple trees were so full last year that this year they are having a well earned rest and look much healthier for it. There will be enough fruit for us - just not enough to feed the village.
Redcurrants have been brill - 6 pint jugs so far. Use to make redcurrant and raspbery jelly/jam as I don't like them on their own.

Japanese onions have filled out nicely but I seem to have lost the plot with all other veg this year:rolleyes:
Doing voluntary work overseas for as long as it takes .......
My DD might make the odd post for me

We've lost about 3/4 of our strawbs this year as they have just rotted on the plants...boo hoo! Still picked about 6lbs this last week and probably will be the same again this week. Wild strawbs doing OK though. The rasps are fantastic this year -already made 10lbs jam and will be making more today. Tayberries are coming along nicely and artichokes going berserk.....
