Will Wireless Boiler Controls avoid tripping electrics ?

Thought it too good to be true !
tripped again the following morning when the heating came on (via timed ).
BG engineer came out again (Saturday) and through some trial and error testing determined that there is a break somewhere in the cable between the boiler feed (downstairs) and the immersion (3rd floor). If we have the heat and water come on it trips. If we only have one of the two on it doesn't. He unwired the water so we had heating over the weekend but no hot water : so now 6 days straight and 10 elapsed with no water since 4 November with a bedbound disabled person in the house who needs personal care every four hours - carers understandably upset at carrying kettles / bowls of hot water to and fro!
BG engineer said we had to leave this as-is for a few days to prove the fault, and that he would contact us today (Monday) to see if the fault was proven then contact his manager to see how to engage the electrical side of our cover to do the rewire, and who would be liable to pay for it.
Im really not interested in who pays for it, I just need it fixed !
Anyway, this follow up is to ask advice on this rewiring malarky - I have contacted the local authority to see if I can find a wiring diagram for the house - how much disruption is it likely to be to rewire just this element ?
We can't move mum/dad out of the property. Also, if I say " just put in a combi", thus eliminating the immersion ( im assuming that this will happen?) would this be less disruption ?
Everyone in a state now and I am hacked off ( maybe without just cause ) that we keep getting boiler engineers when we identified back at the beginning of November that there was probably an (rodent caused) electrical cable fault.
Sorry for the long rant - sleepless nites worrying bout mum n dad0
