Virgin Media customers will see bills rise by 6.7% from February, and broadband speeds will be increased.

"While the speed increases will likely be welcomed by customers, the average price increase of 6.7 percent across Virgin Media’s broadband, phone (fixed-line, but not mobile) and TV packages is unlikely to please many people. Customers will start to see increases in their bills from February, around the same time the speed boosts will be introduced, Virgin Media said."

Now remember, there is absolutely no link between the price increase (another, not even one year since the last major increases) and the latest "free" broadband upgrade also being discussed ... like there wasn't last time, or the time before that ...
How many years is this going to happen before they get into trouble for misleading their customers?
Thank you for another above inflation rise Virgin.

"The key price rises are as follows:
Line rental: Will increase by £1/month, from £14.99 to £15.99.
Broadband and line rental bundles: Will increase by £2/month.
Local geographic calls outside of call plans: Will increase from 9.94p/minute to 10.60p/minute.
From 25 November Virgin Media's line rental saver, which allows customers to pay upfront for a year's line rental at a discounted price of £120, saving £60/year compared to its standard line rental, will also increase to £128.
Virgin Media says you have 30 days from receiving a letter or email informing you of the price rises to tell it you want to leave your contract – in which case, you'll be able to do so penalty-free."

Is there any way you can not have the home phone with Virgin, but still have the tv and broadband package, because I use my mobile mostly, and when I do use the home phone, it is very expensive.0

I'm 13 months into my 18 month contract with them for tv, phone and broadband - and this increase (4.50 for me) has got me looking at other deals. I don't use the phoneline at all - in fact there isn't even a phone plugged into it. I too would be interested in being able to ditch the phone line but keep the broadband if possible.
I've heard part of the reason for the increases is to make the BT Sport channels inclusive as standard , but I couldn't be less interested in football etc and simply don't want them!
It's not a great deal for me now.0 -
I agree, I am going to ring them and see what is on offer, and just tell them I hardly use the phone.0

Virgin Media Cable are the only mainstream supplier able to offer you broadband etc without a phone .
See: http://store.virginmedia.com/broadband/compare-broadband/index.html click on Broadband.
But it does not save you much money, landline free deals are just about cheaper overall, but people going without a landline certainly aren't saving £15 a month.0 -

I know a few people who only have broadband from VM as they have Sky and use mobile phones.
This occurred because they moved into new built homes and due to a cockup there were no BT lines and VM and they were not installed until a year after.
So everybody had Sky or freeview and mobile phones and only went with VM broadband when it was finally installed.Getting forgetful, if you think I've asked this before I probably have. :rotfl:0 -
Just checked, Broadband without Phone is exactly the same cost as Broadband with Phone as Ypaymore said.
I would stand to loose my "Triple Combo Loyalty Pack" as well!
VM have got most of us by the 'short & curies' good an proper.0 -
I got my letter yesterday - just seems like one increase after another with nothing to show for it from VM! The letter suggest I can save £60 if I pay by DD - I already do!
Just been costing out the various packages to see what my best option is. I don't want to pay for a calls included package as I rarely use it. I'd rather pay per call for the odd call I make. Broadband - I don't need it any faster so would rather pay less. But I do like catch-up TV.
Looking at it I'd be better off with TalkTalk and Youview but I am wary of switching - in case I'm left without for ages, or they muck it up. Not heard great things about TT in the past. Anyone already done this? TT users? What do you think?
Just sick of VM. Thanks0 -
You can always try calling them to negotiate a discount if your out of contract,or your able to leave because of price rise. They often offer people better deals.
