Santander in-branch ATM stole my deposit
Comments
-
The Santander in-branch ATMs (the really big ones) are very clever(*), but if I was depositing cash, I'd still probably take it to a human cashier.
(*) They count cash in real-time, and give you the option to challenge the count(**). They also print a mini copy of any cheque deposits on the receipt, and can OCR read the cheque value.
(**) Seems like the OP missed that bit.0 -
I remember some other banks which have the same type of confirmation, and if you challenge them you can actually enter your own figure, then it changes the deposit amount appropriately and says "Amount entered is subject to checking by the bank". I have entered my own amount a few times (they seem to miss a note some times), but other than that, I've never had a problem with the machines.0

Been there. Done that. Been banned for it!
Me too. Putting the bank's side is not popular with the moderators here. It does leave behind a rather distorted view of what's right and wrong.
It seems, for example, that a customer's mistake is fine and dandy, and should have no consequences, but a member of staff's mistake should result in someone losing their job.0 -

LOL, you two guys, and dunstonh most recently, did a lot better than me there - I have only had threats of bans, not been actually been banned as yet. Though that is likely to change after this post, and of course they can do as they please, the owner of the site lays down the law, and they are the owner's agents.0 -

Challenging others opinions and perceptions.
Telling people what changes they could make to enhance their finances.
A dangerous game on MSE.0 -

Or a website, :rotfl:
Mind you, running a website sounds a lot of work.
Good to know though who is getting targeted with bans and promises of bans. See you in the MSE corral!0 -
I must be doing something wrong, I've not even had a warning yet.0

Be patient, it took me about 6 years to get a warning
