This month is fast turning in to a shocker.
Had the good news about the car not costing anything and then the alternator went as well
So that + lack of savings = us on target to go overdrawn this month. We do have a freezer full of food however and Xmas lunch is taken care of already, so that is a small saving grace....
Also we get paid a week early so we may avoid the charge form the bank, then obviously live out of the freezer, a good 2 weeks food in there to be honest and that should take us up to our usual pay day....
Even with my spreadsheet budgeting us down to the last pound I seem to have an issue here.... Our outgoings are definitely less than the incoming, by quite a way so I think it is time to leave the wallet and cards at home every day unless I know I am definitely going shopping for food form work.0 -
Have you worked out where the extra money's going (in which case it may be time to post a revised SOA), or is the overspend still a mystery?Mortgage when started: £330,995

Good thinking! It's that mindset, "I will NOT spend" which makes the difference.CCs @0% £24k Dec 05 £19,621.41 Au £13400 S 12600 Oct £11,981 £9481 £7500 Nov £7250 D £7100 Jan 6950 F £5800 Mar£5400 May £4830 June £4660 July £4460 Aug £3200, S £900, £0 18/9/07 DFW Nerd 0420

It is kind of still a mystery.... I have budgeted down to the last penny last month and we discovered a few home truths... I spent £30 on cinema for example from October 26th to Nov 26th, something I have remedied and have not been since. I do love my films so that is something I just decided I could live without as it is a bit of a selfish want.
There were a lot of cash withdrawals that month as well accounting for around £300 of the overspend but neither of us could really account for these and that is the problem with cash I guess...
I need to go over this months accounts at some point this week to see where the money has been going this month.
Hopefully with a freezer full of food all we will need to buy is bread for the kids sandwiches for school and fruit and veg, so realistically £50 a week should happily see us through to the end of the month!0 -
A lot of people keep spending diaries when they withdraw cash. Everything gets recorded, down to a 30p packet of crisps. Would it be worth doing that for a month? £300 is a lot of money that you could be throwing at the debt...Mortgage when started: £330,995

I need to do this. I did say I was going to. Will get a couple of pads for me and the mrs.0 -
Ok,
I got pads and after a long drawn out discussion we have agreed to start monitoring spends form Jan 1st. New year, new start.
We will still have a fridge/freezer full of food and we are going to clear out that before buying anything other than essentials at the turn of the year...
I am hoping to end up with somewhere between £600 and £800 to pay off the debt each month!!
PMA all the way!0
