Hi there, the window film is a brilliant idea - I think it would be ideal in addition to the polite sign on the door, as it mean my aunt can still enjoy her view. Thanks very much for suggesting it.

During a period of unemployment earlier this year, I was being bothered by delivery men also about taking in parcels. But the worst part was the recipient turning up at any time to collect them from me. I felt like I couldn't relax until they'd been. But then earlier this year Royal Mail started a thing about leaving your parcels with neighbours. I didn't really want any of my parcels left with neighbours (even though I live in a block of flats, I wouldn't know them from Adam).
In that situation you could get a sticker from Royal Mail to stick on your letter box that says something like "Please return any items you can't deliver to the sorting office". Postmen are also taught to interpret that as you are also unwilling to take in other people's items.
